(Ed.'s Note: Is it because she is just cuddly and lovable that JP 2-1 Linda Salazar gets an average of 600 weddings yearly for the past decade? Or is it because she actively solicits the ceremonies (at $250 a pop) at the expense of her other duties? We have already heard of her office refusing to take some civil cases and directing the litigants to other courts to devote their time to court the lucrative wedding racket.
And there is evidence at she has nurtured a network of county employees in other departments to steer weddings to her court. Texas law permits the JPs to pocket the wedding ceremony money and none goes to the county. Is it any wonder she spends so much time hustling weddings?
And Texas Department of Public Safety officers have began to avoid filing in her court because - in he endeavor to curry favor with defendants - she often dismisses cases or forgoes the fines that would eventually go to county coffers. And in order to clear the backlog of cases in her court, she had dismissed them wholesale and called them "clear."
It's clear that this public office is being used to Salazar's personal and economical benefit. This March, Salazar faces two competent candidates in the Democratic Party primary. More power to them.)

Linda Salazar is just as "cuddly" as Miss Piggy on Sesame Street and we an only hope her self-serving is ended in the next election. Salazar is clearly not a public servant. She is part of the "old" Democratic Party here...uneducated and unprofessional.

Linda is the only full time justice of the peace and earns her pay by bieng in her office 40 hours a week. the other two are part time justices of the peace and are reeping from the county tax payers.
