VALLE ROYALTY: POLITICAL OFFICES ARE OURS BY BIRTHRIGHT

(Ed.'s Note: Meet the Rio Grande Valley's' own version of royalty. With a 28-year reign as Texas District 27 State Senator, Eddie Lucio Jr. (wearing Texas motif shirt) appears to be ready to hand over his seat to his heir apparent Eddie Lucio III, District 38 state representative for the last 12 years. Their accomplishments? Basically it has been self-enrichment with Lucio Jr. entangling himself in corruption from his "consulting" sideline which resulted in the Port of Brownsville's $21 million boondoggle Bridge to Nowhere" with his Dannebaum Engineering buddies and prison building in Willacy County which resulted in a bribery scandal involving local elected officials.

After each incident, which put mucho dinero in Eddie's pockets, he "quit" consulting for a little while until the heat died down.  Eddie III has gotten caught in strikingly similar situations, the latest being his $125,000 a year legal gig with International Educational Services (IES), the Ruben Gallegos' scam which was brought to a halt by federal authorities. Like Juan Sanchez's Southwest Key, IES raked in the bucks tending to immigrant minors while they awaited transfer to relatives or sponsors inside the United States.

The Gallegos were each making upwards of $650,000 each in salary and doling out questionable payments to their cronies. Through it all, Lucio III never counseled his benefactors on the illegality of their actions. Why should he? He wasn't really there to act as IES's lawyer. He was a paid hack like his father. Call it droit de signeur. But the Lucios's have claimed the right to screw their constituents by birthright. The constant rumor that Eddie Jr. will hand his senate seat to Lucio III likean heirloom may actually have some basis in fact.

There's a saying that a country, or our region of South Texas - like a woman - is never forgiven for giving herself up to the first adventurer who comes along with the facile smile and greedy pockets and then hands her off to his successor for sloppy seconds. The Oliveira dynasty came to an end. It's time for the voters to give these two parasites the heave-ho as well.)

The Lucios have lots or problems. Eddie Lucio III should have been indicted over how he forced the Texas Lottery Commission to reinstate International Bingo's license. The investigation is there and is open again. Hopefully it will end the Lucios for good. They also got away with a warning for selling beer without a license and on top of that to a minor. Texas TABC would not go beyond a warning once Lucio got involved.

Juan, Juan, listen to me! I was waiting to post my interview of every Lucio family member but you beat me to the punch again. The BVD (my blog offering used underwear I get at JC Penneys) is on record as supporting Ruben Cortez, Jr. Cortez is more than qualified, people!

Hey, why wasn't Eddie Lucio ever in the military? He was in his 20s during the mid to late 60's Vietnam era. Draft dodger, I'll bet.

This conspiracy theory has been around for years, and it makes little sense, especially for Rep. Lucio, III.

Sen. Lucio, who has not formally announced a re-election campaign, had a fundraiser at the exclusive, predominately white, members-only Austin Club to troll for money from Austin lobbyists and political action committees. He has also just started advertising a fundraising fishing tournament on South Padre Island. The theory holds that the Senator will spend much of that money on expensive Austin living for himself, supplement the state pay of his is state staff who “campaign for him on their own time,” on disingenuous campaigning for re-election. Then, at the filing deadline, less than 90 days before the election, he will not file and Rep. Lucio, III will file to run for Senate. Senator Lucio will then transfer any remaining campaign money to Rep. Lucio, III's campaign account. Deceived contributors might be angry, but there isn't much concern about them.

The theory is flawed for four major reasons. First, Sen. Lucio would have to admit he can no longer do the job or no longer wants to. Second, the switch would be an admission that the family does not believe Rep. Lucio, III can win the seat outright and has to result to trickery to try establish a dynastic hold on the Senate seat. Third, Rep. Lucio, III would have to accept a role of less power and influence over state policy - he is the chairman of a powerful House committee and would end up the lowest ranking member of the minority party in the Senate. Fourth, Rep. Lucio, III’s supporters would lose the investment they have made in keeping him in the House and getting him to a leadership position just when their investment is about to pay off substantially.

At 11:36 a.m. take a look at a lot of the politicians in office and not currently in office. These guys found a way like Bill Clinton did. Some disappear and some went to college to high under the education clause.. the list is long on these individuals . Those who didn't have money for college were gone. Now these rats are taking all the cheese from the taxpayers

There is no more unreliable senator than 28-year veteran Eddie Lucio,” Hart writes. “His nicknames say it all: Sucio (‘Dirty’) Lucio and El Resbaloso (‘the Slippery pussy. Lucio said he would demand an apology from Texas Monthly for including the comment about his “nick-names” in the story.

AND HE IS STILL WAITING!

For 1.41 pm, you are right on that one, hit the nail on the head, i heard the same thing about the lucios planning to call an audible at the last minute like former JP bennie ochoa jr did over in port isabel, substituted his son III another TURD in at the last minute. But unfortunately the Cat came out of the Bag and several challengers got wind of it so thats why they are in already. Plain and Simple, TIME FOR LUCIO JR TO RETIRE AMD FOR LUCIO III THE TURD TO STAY WHERE HE IS NOT LIKED. Ya fue muncha chifason y robo con esto dos putos.

On the lemonade comment, the Legislature this term actually protected these type sales as not needing a permit. With the exception of a few laws, many of the new laws are not really all that bad.

6:26 AM...Yep, that is a formula to keep the corrupt status quo, vote only for Mexicans to keep the gringos from holding office. Whatever happened to vote for the best qualified person, regardless of race, creed or color? The ignorance and racism abounds here and will forever keep progress out. That is like slaves voting to keep slavery.

Move to the east where corruption is inherit and common within the white community. You might feel better since its white corruption better suited to your taste. Don't forget slavery was common among the whites as they felt superior to all races and they still think that way.
