IT'S OFFICIAL! DISTRICT CLERK ERIC GARZA RUNS FOR SHERIFF

(Ed.'s Note: For months now the rumor has run rampant that Cameron County District Clerk Eric Garza will challenge incumbent Omar Lucio for Cameron County Sheriff. We have been told that the rumor has been confirmed and that Garza will make it official today at Adolios in Brownsville's Sunrise Mall.

Garza was recently re-elected to district clerk in 2018 and is in the 10th month of a second four-year term. He will have to resign his position as district clerk once he announces for another elected office.)

But if Congress does its job and presents the evidence, those who are in denial won’t be able to ignore the problem any longer. Not only because of the evidence itself, but because Donald Trump will respond in pathological ways — and in doing so, he’ll prove the points against him in ways almost no one will be able to ignore.

So does the guy have any law enforcement experience? Who needs just another vato with zero experience to run a major law enforcement agency.

Don't you have to have a Texas Peace Officer license to be sheriff? What happens if an inexperienced person gets elected sheriff?

for 9.05 am, not a requirement to have a texas peace officer license to be sheriff, just elected by the people thats it, it would help but not required.

Former HPD Officer who worked under Lucio! said...

I am not sure but I believe that Eric does have a Peace Officer' License and was doing reserve with someone? You'll get some experience and depending what he has done while putting in his hours? Eric does have administrative experience and that' what a good Sheriff should have, which Lucio didn't, believe me! Eric has good people skills and knows the politics!
Look Lucio' time is up! He's got medical issues and that' not including his accidents in sheriff units that have had to be cleaned extensively. As for his second and third in command, they got to go! Gus Reyna is nothing more than a space being filled and he does nothing for the office! We all know that he had an alcohol/substance abuse problem, got to take paid leave, cleaned up and got his old position back, which was BS!
I will support and vote for Eric because we need new blood! If he doesn't have a PO license, then I hope that he hires someone who knows LE and will do LE work and deal with the issues!
As for Lucio, "let me tell you this, its time to go!"

You people don’t even know what you’re talking about Eric Garza is very well-qualified ha ha We all know that the Reyna’s run the sheriffs office for their old man Lucio it’s his time to go ..Gus the drunken closet insider .. along with his sidekick brother .. the tyrant .. Eric will make a great SHERIFF

You don't have to be a Texas Peace Officer, but an elected sheriff who is not, cannot excercise any law enforement duties, i.e. no badge, no gun, no handcuffs, just a pencil pusher in the office. If elected, this guy will not have respect from the men and women under him. But this is like voters in Browsville, to elect a guy who will be a failure the moment he takes office. But hey, the guay has planca in the courthouse, so what the hell! Let's elect ANOTHER incompetent to office! It is just the taxpayers money after all.

How long did the 10:21 and 10:23 blogger take to type all this up and what is it, anyway? As for Eric, can he speak well enough so that we can make heads or tails what he is trying to say in front of the TV interview. Ese bigote esta llendo de menudo y no se le entiende nada al vato - habla English or habla chino? Lucio needs to retire and work for the Lucios as body guard.

Anonymous said...

Does have to pass a police academy if elected. You remember, like Pete Avila did.

Lucio will will no wanna bes here, its a very serious job. We don't need jokers and clowns...

Sheriffs office needs change all the supervisors are corrupt you have detectives working overtime in unmarked patrol cars not doing a damn thing you have loose cannon Lieutenants on shift violating people's rights arresting for made up charges. You have Sgts falsifying times stealing county money deputys fucking on shift people getting paid who literally have nothing to do all day but drink pre work out and watch Facebook. Most of the overtime money goes to the same few prevlidged compadre faces the rest of the deputys get screwed. If your a female deputy or dispatcher you best believe you need to drop those pantys to get past probation and a good shift. The reynas run the place the sheriff is a good man but old and senile he must retire. Change is good clean house start from new. And if a new sheriff gets elected please try not to go rogue and corrupt like everyone else in the first term... have some self respect.

@5:58am

You are mistaking comparing a good department in Texas and comparing it to a department in Arizona. Just like all the junior politicians thinking that the voter will believe anything any pendejo writes. GO BACK TO ARIZONA idiot

Eric Garza is a highly qualified candidate for the sheriff position, holds a Texas Peace Officer license and is seen as a great leader by many. Cameron County needs a change and this is it..
