(Ed.'s Note: At one time, Francisco "Kiko" Rendon was the chairman of Texas Southmost College and as such presided over the policy-making of the community college's curriculum and instruction. Now it appears that he has advanced into the realm of higher education and is pursuing a graduate degree. One of our seven readers who keeps up with Kiko and his social pages sent us this card of gratitude after an apparent successful round of fundraising to finance his educational goals.
As we said before, Kiko is a very competitive guy. So we can only assume that the misspelled word "compete" instead of "complete my survey" was not his mistake. Anyway, we also assume that his graduate degree is not in English or Spelling.)

Even with spell check, mistakes are seen in all media. When a teacher uses the BH in class to have the ESL students look for mistakes, it should tell you something. Kids don't care and don't know the rules we were taught when we were kids such as " I before E except after C" Prinicpal and principle - your principal is your pal. We can pronounce words using the phonics we learned and can tell when a word is incorrectly spelled even if it was 70 or so years that we were taught such. Where has all the spelling gone? Kids can't even give change if the computer does not tell them exactly what to give back.
I was behind one who did not even know the difference between a penny, dime or nickel and held up the line paying $20 in change. Something is wrong in Denmark!!! Hey, and what about the cursive writing? Kiko, why didn't you get Adela to proofread it for you.
