"Castro notes that The Brownsville Herald has previously written about the petition, and that “daily publications, TV news stories, blogs and social media posts” are grounds for the transfer of venue away from Cameron County, as he fears for his life and for those of his family and friends."
By Juan Montoya
In a classic case of out-Trumping Trump, attention-seeking maven Erasmo Castro - whose presence in local social media is pervasive through the manipulation of fake accounts and numerous cyber personas - is now complaining of excessive media coverage.
Castro, a Brownsville Independent School District trustee, is well known for cornering his victims and shooting selfies with whoever he comes across and has now filed a motion to dismiss a petition to oust him from his board position following a Sept. 2 arrest for driving while intoxicated.
It is safe to say that he has shot selfies with just about any public official he has met and a few students he encountered on the BISD campuses he used to frequent before the board majority passed policies safeguarding the posting of students' photos on social media. He is one of those people who send photos to their social media pages letting people know where they're at, what they're eating, who they meet, etc.,
In act, he has also adopted a cyber moniker "The Cheez." And, as he says, there is only one Cheez and he is it.
Fifteen minutes of fame have become a perpetual effort to be seen doing something, anything.
In an affidavit filed Monday, Castro asked the 197th state District Court for a transfer of venue as he believes an impartial trial is not possible due to the existence of prejudice against him “by influential persons.”
He claimed that people have been stalking, harassing, and posting death threats against him online. In the document, Castro alleged that Cameron County District Attorney Luis Saenz and the Brownsville Police Department have not pursued charges against people who made death threats against him and harassed his family.
Also in the affidavit, Castro alleged that Saenz’s brother, Mario Saenz, are coaching petitioners Zachary Blevins, Jesus Guevara, Josue Covarrubias, and Rocio Patino.
The petition to remove Castro from his public office was filed Sept. 24.
The document argues that Castro has a “constitutionally protected right to an alcoholic beverage while off duty” and alleges that “Drink and you are out is the consequence for drinking anything.”
Remember the Chinese adage about being careful what you wish for because it may just come true?

Oh how funny! The former convicted felon is lucky that a bunch of idiots voted for his lame ass into office. Now, the drunk POS has a title to put after his name and then went into the schools with or without permission and took pics with students without the authority of their parents and then posted them on social media? Now, the convicted felon doesn't like the exposure? Does he miss the pics with fellow board member, Laura or what? After the arrest, no more pics of this POS or Laura? Well, it is a good idea for Laura to put distance between her and this POS! Especially if she intends to win the position for District Clerk!
Oh, erasho? A change of venue won't make a difference! Fighting the charge just for media exposure and getting your fifteen minutes of fame on the stand won't do you any good! You're such an idiot, you'll sink yourself! You're not an eddie lucio or his son!
I bet you he pays his taxes unlike all the gringos here puros mamones.
