IS TERRORIST DESIGNATION OF CARTELS 1ST STEP TO INVASION

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

(Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said he will designate Mexican drug cartels as terrorist groups for their role in trafficking narcotics and people, prompting a speedy request for talks by Mexico.

“They will be designated ... I have been working on that for the last 90 days. You know, designation is not that easy, you have to go through a process, and we are well into that process,” Trump said in an interview aired on Tuesday with conservative media personality Bill O’Reilly.

Soon afterwards, Mexico’s foreign ministry issued a statement saying it would quickly seek a high-level meeting with U.S. State Department officials to address the legal designation as well as the flow of arms and money to organized crime.

“The foreign minister will establish contact with his counterpart, Michael R. Pompeo, in order to discuss this very important issue for the bilateral agenda,” the ministry said.

Once a particular group is designated as a terrorist organization, under U.S. law it is illegal for people in the United States to knowingly offer support and its members cannot enter the country and may be deported.

Financial institutions that become aware they have funds connected to the group must block the money and alert the U.S. Treasury Department.

Three women and six children of dual U.S.-Mexican nationality were killed in the ambush in northern Mexico. Mexican authorities said they may have been victims of mistaken identity amid confrontations among drug gangs in the area.

Alex LeBaron, a former Mexican congressman and relative of some of the victims, on Twitter rejected the idea of a U.S. “invasion”.

What unvarnished bullshit! This is nothing more than some writers wet dream, to get people all spun up about something that is never going to happen. Nobody is stupid enough to invade Mexico. Even though folks down there hate the cartels, they would hate invades more and unify to resist. Sure, the US military could defeat any Mexican efforts to resist, but then we would be faced with an ongoing, everlasting low grade resistance war on our Southern Border that would pour over into mainland United States.

This entire piece is irresponsible journalism and should not be repeated on this blog. But hey, this is a place where people stir the shit pot on a regular basis.

Invasion no way but a few drones with well placed Hell Fire missles would be a good idea.

I'm a Democrat, but Trump's move is the right move. We've wasted way too much time in mideast crap, when the real threat was here.

There is no Muslim terrorist more bloodthirsty than the cartels. They butcher, humiliate, hang up dead bodies of journalists, elected officials, they destroy any semblance of public order.

If only Reagan had bombed them in the 80's, but we couldn't. But now, we can't ignore it. All these immigrants knocking at our border are fleeing terrorist violence down south. Ask any of those people in the tents near Garcia's. Call a spade a spade, they didn't want to leave their homes, who ever would??? It was flee or die. They would still be in their beloved home countries, not trying to migrate here, if the terrorists hadn't gone wholesale murder and kidnapping on the population.

I've had relatives dismembered and put into ice coolers and then delivered to us by the cartels. To not call them terrorists is just denying facts. Keep talking shit Juan, you don't know what you are saying.

Mexico has no laws, but the mexican police and military Forces of Mexico are part of the cartel. They have no control of the gangs so, if you can't beat them, than join them. The people selling the arms to the cartels are the same Mexicans living in the U.S.
