(Ed.'s Note: These beautiful young girls with their classic Mayan features stand out in contrast with the mestizo woman behind them. Our Chiapas correspondent Benjamin Neece is now on assignment in Tuxtla Gutierrez and all point south when he sent us this photo. Sometimes, locked up in our border ambiance, we forget that there are other people in other parts of our continent unaware of our links to their lives. Nice photo Ben. Thanks and have a cup of the local coffee on us.
Chiapas was once part of Guatemala with which it now shares a border. If you have never been to that part of the world it's an eye opener. It's also one of Mexico's prime spots for primo coffee and people grow the trees in their backyards. We thank Benjamin for this great photo. Saludos, Ben and everyone in his team.)

Grammar lesson Number 2,303: "features stand out." Not "stands"
Juan, El Panson Barton has joined the White Supremacist crowd. He disrespected Sofie Benavides and blames others for the trash comments on his blog. It is being taken over by the Anglos in town.
Ben Neece for Mayor! Taller than Juan "Trees Leches" Mendez, a coco.
So he is on holiday
Taking pics of female minors?
Child exploitation is a common tourist indulgence for anglosaxon male tourists.
Pretty fugly looking chicks, I will take the Mestizo. Better yet a Gachupina. Indian blood does not improve the looks of any female.
Lamentablemente, todos los reporteros son mentirosos.
Browns vs. Whites in local elections now a "thing." Vote for your own!
Sofie Benavides deserves another term! No scandal follows her and she is a steadying force on the county commission.

“We need something affordable that will positively impact our region, because we have a high rate of poverty".
AFFORDABLE, FOR PEOPLE IN PROVERTY. GET THE FUCK OUT OF OFFICE...
On the 8th of December there was an interesting Editorial in the Brownsville Herald that got no attention from you, but got lots of attention from families of UTRGV students. There was no graduation in Brownsville after the Fall Semester. Why, UTRGV scheduled its graduation on the same day as the TSC graduation. So, UTRGV students, families and friends had to go up the Valley for graduation. Is there no coordination between UTRGV and TSC for the use of the Jacob Brown facility...which according the that article is the only place in Brownsville to hold a graduation. Was there no flexibility by UTRGV to use another day for our local graduates to have their ceremony here??? It seems that we have jumped back to the 1980's with the Brownsville campus being the "step brother" of UTRGV...just like we were for Pan Am. Why is this issue not getting any attention by our city leaders, UTRGV or even TSC. Its tough enough for our students to have to go to Edinburg for courses, but to not be able to graduate here means that our campus is not a priority. We need progress, not a return to the 1980's.

BREAKING NEWS:
Major US cities have announced increased security in response to concerns over threats stemming from the Pentagon's killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, a top Iranian military official.
So what is our increased security? Bring in some more plastic curbs increase surveillance on all the bike trails or position anti-aircraft artillery in, now important, pot holes?
Our 8 star general the mayor "el chapo" will have a war conference with the builders of the bike trails for offensive and defensive co-ordinations in case of an all out attack on our historic downtown strategic area. This area (downtown)is a military and economic wellness of this country. Protecting the area cantinas is a must for future generation.
VOTE SARA STAPLETON BARRERA OR RUBÉN CORTEZ
Sara Stapleton-Barrera, a trial lawyer, and Ruben Cortez, a member of the State Board of Education, were both present at the candidate forum and voiced strong support for defending health and rights for THE Río Grande Valley.
Longtime-Senator Eddie Lucio Jr. misses RGV candidate forum, fails to show up for Texas women.
Senator Lucio's time in office is up, and the Rio Grande Valley is ready for progressive leadership that represents the needs of the people.

Wrong cricket its white v brown v cocos
I find it amazing that the locals look down their mestizo noses are Latino Americans that enjoy the cultural values of their own country. If you don't have three or more old pickups parked in your front yard and don't cook a cow head in your backyard on the weekend, and drink at least four cases of cheap ass beer than you are a coco. Totally amazing at level of ignorance by the local folks.
