"SANTISIMA DORADITA" APPEARS TO WARD OFF COVID-19

Special to El Rrun-Rrun
From Multimedios

You knew it was just going to be a matter of time before some enterprising manufacturer came up with a way to make money off the fears of people toward the COVID-19 pandemic.

Well, it didn't take long. In the region in the state of Tabasco, Mexico, there have appeared votive candles purporting to be a remedy to ward off the virus that has created panic around the world.

The text on the candle has a disclaimer that states that it doesn't cure, but fortifies, the believers' faith to help them counter the effects of the virus.

The curing ritual consists of running the candle glass container over the body of the stricken victim and saying a prayer (inscribed on the container) simultaneously.

The votive candles first appeared in the Pino Suarez mercado in Villahermosa.
In some stands, reports are that the cost range from $30 to $50 pesos (between $1.25 to$2.10 US).

Get them before the hoarding begins.

Have you heard this one making the rounds in prosecutorial circles?

Did you hear about the seizure at the Sarita checkpoint of 100,000 rolls of toilet paper?

Apparently, the Border Patrol discovered them  using its sniffing dogs while searching an 18-wheeler.

They were hidden and covered with bricks of cocaine.

Casi Miro was sitting at a local congal - when the bars were still open - sipping on a 16-ounce Natural Light de dos pisos when his friend Bob Oso sauntered in.

He was sniffling and coughing to the side and sat at a respectable social distance from Casi Miro and told the barkeep: "Pasame un mofle de Natural como a Casi Miro, pero muerta," and sniffled again.

Casi Miro was alarmed and asked Bob Oso: "Hey bato, porque andas mocoso y 'tas tosiendo? Te pego el pinche corona virus?

"No guey,"  answered Bob Oso. "Me vendieron un jale chafas. Yo creo que es el pinche corte virus."

Some of the people that comment here will tell you what a bunch of ignorant people (with more vulgar language and with insulting words) and in a way, they will be right. Those same people go to herbal medicines and expect results in days not months or years.
I know most people in our area don't have the "intellectual" capacity to think that science will give a cure eventually; because, like the exceptional brains such as those that believe in that, think only the divine can work at it.
Let them waste their money. Once this situation passes, there will be MANY scammers over the phone and many will fall into their scams.
Beware and let it not happen to you.

Republicans need to remember that their party wasted two months claiming the virus was a hoax that Democrats were overreacting to in order to make Trump look bad. So they can shut the hell up with their faux-outrage over Pelosi taking three days to negotiate worker protections into a bill that Republicans could have been drafting months ago, had they taken any of this seriously.

Brownsville is in a world of hurt. With less sales tax revenue, it is doomed to curtail services (Metro bus), raise fees (garbage collection), or draw down reserves to absorb the blow.

It has no chance.
