As New York Gov. Mario Cuomo begs retired nurse and doctors and other medical personnel to come to New York and assist them as the scourge of COVID-19 decimates that urban center, local medical personnel are pointing south as a possible answer to his needs.
The need is such, as national news organizations have broadcast, that many have traveled from other parts of the country to New York. One retired doctor is in critical condition as a result of being infected with the virus at a city hospital.
"There are plenty of qualified registered nurses and medical doctors south of the border who could come here with work visas for the duration of the crisis," said a local doctor who requested anonymity. "Hell, we grant work visas to welders. Why don't we cut through the red tape and bring qualified medical professionals now that we need them?"
He, like other medical professionals, say that the personnel would be needed not only in New York where the virus had peaked. Still to come is the peak in other states across the United States.
Such a move - if it were to happen - would necessarily involve the federal government and the expediting ofthe work visas to qualified applicants, said one.
"This is not a new idea," he said. "We have awarded such work visas to nurses from the Philippines and other countries. We need the medical personnel now. Given the incentives like pay and free housing, I'm sure that there will be plenty of takers and we need them."
Will the federal government - through our local representatives - take the incentive to recruit and hire these professionals expeditiously to provide the critical erices needed in this country now?

This so called doctor wants illegal nurses to assist in a county that the political leaders have done everything possible to get government monies for medical schools, colleges, and even forgives student loans for doctors to practice medicine..Where are the so called medical professional, the medical centers that they so give so much federal funding?
Its like bring over here a bunch of filipinos to work when unemployment has at a record high REMEMBER????
