COVID CASES RISE TO 198, CITIES, STARR ORDER FACE MASKS

TherE has only been one COVID-19 fatality in the Rio Grande Valley, but  the number of positive cases has jumped to 198.

Although the Cameron County Judge Eddie TreviƱo or his Health Dept. are prohibited from identifying the deceased, a commenter said:

"This individual was an employee at Veranda nursing home in Harlingen. May he R.I.P and may all the others there that were exposed may (they have) a full recovery. We have a loved one as a resident there."

And now, if you live in Starr County and in the cities of Edinburg and Elsa, in Hidalgo County, you must now wear a face mask or face covering when you follow the statewide mandatory shelter in  place order and wander outside to perform essential functions like obtaining groceries, going to and from work, or seeking medical attention.

In Edinburg, if you are caught outside without a face covering, you might be subject to a $1,000 fine.The order applies to anyone over three years old. The latest cases in Cameron County have been detected predominantly in Harlingen and Brownsville with one in San Benito.


As of April 4, there are 106 people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Rio Grande Valley.
