PRICE GOUGING ANYONE? LO HACEMOS POR TU BIEN....."

(Ed.'s Note: with the shortage of hand sanitizer, a local entrepreneur has hit upon a sure-fire way to turn a buck off the need of her fellow Brownsvillians.

It seems that our intrepid business-minded neighbor has acquired a large batch of hand sanitizer and is advertising its sale out of her Nuga Diesel and Truck Parts business on 14th Street. She posted that her name is Tanya Nunez. (See graphic above.)

She even provides a telephone number for inquiring potential customers.

And what a deal! The industry-leading brand Purell  - when you can get it - sells a 12-ounce bottle for about .23 cents on ounce. You can get three 12-ounce pump bottles of it for $8 an a single three-ounce bottle for about $3.

The brand being sold by the Nuga Diesel marchantita is BaseOne, an unknown on the internet, but she will let you have it while the demand is high for $12 for one eight-ounce bottle, about $1.50 an ounce, or about $1.27 more per ounce than Purrel. In other words, 36 ounces of Purrel is $8, while 8 ounces - 28 ounces less - of FaceOne is going off the shelf at $12.

That's close to a 400 percent mark up on the sanitizer given the fact that Nunez is selling 8-ounce bottles compared to the 12-ounce by Purrel.

After we posted her ad on our Facebook page, we are told that she and her people are well known in the city and that they are proud alumni of the local Catholic school, St. Joseph Academy.

That explains it. Everyone knows that their business curriculum and caumen of its alumni there is second to none. Those Bloodhounds can smell a buck, can't they?)

Great sanitizer reporting, Juan. People, you are all at risk! I was at a pizza place last night and a waitress farted as I was ordering. It can come from anywhere. I am documenting all if this and will soon issue hourly alerts. Yes, coronavirus can spread through a fart and through winking and even shooting the finger at someone!

Can we believe ANYTHING Trump says?

He HAS to deny his "Fire Dr. Anthony Fauci" retweet because people know and trust Dr. Fauci, a competent professional who is helping Americans during a crisis.

On the other hand, Trumpcompoop is a repulsive self-promoter who sits in his underwear on his bed eating cheeseburgers and fries, and tweets pathetic nonsense.

What's with the anti-capitalist attitude? Capitalism is the soul of the United States. As far as I know, since the founding of this country, people have move here for only one reason, financial success. Yes, you might say, that some people are taking advantage of the situation, but I mean come on, she and a bunch of other people speculated on the rising price of many goods, and now they can profit. Simple, they took a risk and now they can capitalize on it. Instead of complaining about a fellow resident of Brownsville, who's making some "big bucks" with a "$10" profit per bottle. How about you write, about the 1.5 trillion that big corporations are about to steal from the tax payer. Airlines, casinos, hotels stock going up, like if we're not in quarantine, and will still be for an extra month.

It isn't even a gel it is a liquid inside a spray bottle. Purrell and GermX is a gel for a lot cheaper. Los Fresnos Distillary is selling a liquid 100% hand sanitizer for .40 an oz to the general public and .20 an oz if you are a Essential Employee or company. Just take your own container and that is it. This chick is just out to make a killing of the ignorant people and the situation. Instead of helping she is trying to get rich of a spray bottle.

Shame on her for being a gouging person.

I am Tanya Nunez and I am writing on your "poor" blog only to defend myself from being called a price gouger. Shame on you for using a blog to attack a small business that has been serving the community since 1988 and that is struggling alongside many others to stay afloat. You have not only attacked my business but also my education and my religious beliefs. Our business is founded on the principle of providing an essential service for our trucking industry; having said that, we at work every day trying to make sure our local truckers have what they need to stay on the road so everyone can have food on their table and essential products in stocked in stores. 30 families live from this business and they all have a paycheck to take home in this crisis when so many people have lost their jobs and must rely on unemployment to pay their bills. I have been trying to find hand sanitizer for weeks now for personal use as well as for my employees with absolutely no luck. We came across a vendor who sells these spray bottle sanitizers which are reputable, safe, effective and made in the USA, and purchased a small lot to offer our valued customers at a fair price with a small markup, after all, we ARE a retail business. You are welcome to come and purchase a bottle yourself. Next time you find the need to attack a person or a business, make sure you look in the mirror first. God Bless you, yes, I learned that in Catholic school.
