PIISD Superintendent of Schools
During the public audience section of the meeting, numerous educators, parents and community members spoke of concerns with opening schools with face-to-face instruction due to the increase in positive COVID-19 in Cameron County and the Laguna Madre area.
Superintendent of Schools Teri Capistran requested for the board to pass a resolution as follows:
“The Point Isabel Independent School District shall remain closed for on-campus, face -to-face instruction for all school age students and shall not reopen for face-to-face instruction until further discussion and determination by the Board that it is safe for our students, faculty and staff to return.”
The Point Isabel ISD school board unanimously approved the motion.
Point Isabel ISD will continue working with the Return to Learn Task Force Committee members to provide all students with the best instruction possible while ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff members.
(Ed's Note: It's worth noting that Capistran, formerly Alarcón, was principal at Hanna Early College High School before she was promoted to Area Superintendent at the Brownsville Independent School District. Will the board of the BISD take note of what the folks over at PI are doing and follow their lead for the safety of our community?)

Complain about the beach pendejos...
State: Dog has first case of coronavirus
the coronavirus crisis has made Texas one of the most dangerous states to live in, completely tanked our economy, and shown the entire world just how incompetent Trump and Abbott are.”
“It’s for your safety”...the words of the Gestapo to the Jews. Think of all the advantages of no students in school: no referrals written by teachers for discipline, no discipline problems that administrators have to address, very little cleaning and maintenance of school facilities, no buses scurrying about using valuable fuel, potential furloughs of educators and other staff, no football to distract the learning environment...a Superintendent’s wet dream come true. It is the beginning of the end of brick and mortar public schools. It is the beginning of the end of academic and intellectual sophistication.
Write your own shit, Montoya! Lazy-ass asshole. smh
Guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatrics encourage “having students physically present in school.” What is PI gonna do when the state halts funding for not opening?

Hell, yeah brother!! Acusalo con su editor, so they can fire him with n unemployment or food stamps./S LMAO!
I don't understand how people want to send their children to school in a time of a deadly pandemic. We still don't know a lot of this virus, especially the after effects.
67000 pediatricians stated "kids need to go back to school". But no let's listen to the most educated county in the United States residents opinion.
Bombos que rico bombos - IDIOTAS
They look so stupid it makes us wonder if they are from brownsville pendejos.
Elect them to permanent positions and let the FBI weed all of them out...
I understand children need to go back to school, but under a virus controlled environment like in Denmark or other controlled countries. Not here in the U.S. especially in the RGV where we don't even have beds available for our community.
People just want a free child care and free breakfast and lunch for their kids so they can spend their food stamps on other things and not have to cook or care for their unplanned off spring
All things considered Superintendent Capistran made the correct decision.
except for the music should have chosen a cumbia not a mambo guey
