CHAMBER TAPS BROWNTOWN'S RODRIGUEZ MAN OF THE YEAR

McAllen Monitor

The McAllen Chamber of Commerce announced police Chief Victor Rodriguez and Sally Fraustro-Guerra are this year’s Man and Woman of the Year.

According to the chamber newsletter, Fraustro-Guerra and Rodriguez will be honored at the chamber’s annual banquet in 2021.

Fraustro-Guerra, a McAllen native, recently became the owner and publisher of the Rio Grande Valley-based magazine Socialife, and the director of the magazine’s show, in addition to working for more than 20 years as a real estate broker at Coldwell Banker La Mansion.

“Fraustro-Guerra has dedicated her time to many non-profit organizations and to the City of McAllen,” the newsletter stated.

Rodriguez is the chief of police of the McAllen Police Department. Hailing from Brownsville, Rodriguez received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas Pan American — now, UTRGV — and his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Rodriguez is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy and Harvard University’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program.

“Our heartfelt congratulations to Sally and Chief Rodriguez,” the chamber’s newsletter stated.

Elected officials HERE don't deserve ANY TYPE OF AWARDS, just look at the state of this stinkin' city. All awards given to officials here are purchased and with city funding. SHAME SHAME for those accepting ALL THESE FAKE AWARDS...

Chief Rodriguez is also an alumni of Faulk Middle School. This was the school that was always identified "as from the barrio." Until Mrs. Stovall took over as the principal, the school has won many accolades, such as Rodriguez and many leaders in our community and even at Wash DC - Cindy Jimenez. The Faulk Hawks have proven themselves in society and makes everyone at that school feel proud of that. Congratulations to the Chief Rodriguez and all alumni from Faulk who have earned their place in the community.

Don’t be like Trump: Deducting hairstyling and home expenses from your taxes could get you in trouble with the IRS.

Generally, U.S. tax rules do not allow you to deduct personal, living or family expenses. So, no, you can’t deduct the business wear for your job or the dry cleaning bill.

GOP senators also lamented the toxic nature of the debate. But they, too, pinned the blame on Trump, who was primarily responsible for derailing it. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, for example, called the debate a “shitshow.” Lisa Murkowski of Alaska said it was “awful.” And Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia said it was “rough.”
