TSC GETS ONE STEP CLOSER TO PROVIDE HIGH-TECH TRAINING

Texas Southmost College hosted an unveiling ceremony on Friday morning for the build-out of four new training facilities at the ITEC Center, which will train and educate people for jobs and careers on welding, construction trades, criminal justice, industrial mechanics and maintenance technology.

TSC President Jesus Roberto Rodriguez said the facilities will impact the community in the most positive way.
“We continue to move Texas Southmost College forward with purpose and direction and I think we are truly transforming our institution to the regional workforce destination place,” he said.

Attendees for the ceremony included Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez, TSC Board of Trustees Chairwoman Adela G. Garza and Executive Director of Cameron County Workforce Pat Hobbs.

During his speech, Mendez said the growth of TSC is something the Board has envisioned for many years. Mendez was elected for the TSC Board of Trustees in 2010 and continued until 2019 when he became mayor.

“It is great to see what it has becom1111e, because this is not only what we envisioned but it is actually so much more than what we envisioned,” he said.

“I never thought we would get to this point that we’d be the fastest growing community college in the State, that we would be setting all-time high enrollment every semester and I still say we because even though I’ve been gone for a year and a half I still feel like part of this family.”

Garza said she remembers how years ago in the midst of the separation of University of Texas at Brownsville and TSC, leaders of the community came together to support TSC, including Mendez. She said nothing then could have told her the college was going to come to be this great.

“Exciting things are happening and a lot has to do with the TSC family. Every time I speak to staff or faculty I say ‘we are a family’ and this is the way we work,” she said.“TSC is a family and we work together, all faculty and staff have to do is ask, and it gets to the board, and we give them a hard time, but they get it because we know that they’d never ask for more than they need.”

During one of the tours after the ribbon-cuttings, Hobbs said the impact from the facilities will be very high because trade workers are in demand.

“Our trade workforce, our construction workforce is weak right now. We have a lot of industry that’s coming to the Port, we heard today about the ship building … all of those things are going on and we don’t have a workforce to supply those kinds of industries,” he said.

“So, these jobs: the weldings, the construction, the manufacturing, robotics and those type of things are exactly what we need the workforce to be developed in.”

El Paya Jerry McHale is still complimenting himself on writing, Juan:

"I will relish the editing because I know that I have a legitimate and spellbinding work."

- What good writer compliments himself? That is the mark of a hack!!!!!

Suburban women, soccer moms – whatever you call them – Friday night’s Senate debate suggested they’re the key to Texas elections, and can’t be pigeonholed.

Three-term GOP incumbent John Cornyn and Democrat MJ Hegar each made a pretty compelling case to this bloc. He projected reasonable and conservative. She projected tough but caring and as a bonus, relatable – “I’m doing virtual kindergarten right now with my six-year-old!”

They’re both quite good at avoiding knee-jerk ideological answers, as on the question of whether they’d support a national mask mandate during the pandemic.

“Texas is a big diverse place. Obviously out in West Texas people know how to socially distance. They do it every day because of the lack of population density. … We don’t need the government to fill the void that we should fill ourselves by acting responsibly at the local level,” Cornyn said.

Hegar put it another way, equally appealing to a mom who wants to keep her kids safe without worrying about committing a crime if she walks to the mailbox barefaced.

“I would be for a national strategy that takes science and objective metrics into consideration,” she said.

- Vote Blue. VOTE MJ HEGAR!!!!

Juan, another Eric Garza story by Da Blimp without documents:

"My interest in this story such as the previous one by the Mexican press is they know when they print about the cartel they put a target on their head."

Blimp going to the Mexican press now. What a LOSER!!!!

Democrat MJ Hegar can shake up the status quo and act in Texans’ interests with a sense of urgency that’s regrettably missing in Congress. She is an engaging communicator who conveys a firm understanding of the issues and an ability to connect them to everyday lives. Her personal story combines elements of exceptional grit and courage and the relatable, everyday concerns of a working mother. As an Air Force pilot, Hegar was wounded when her helicopter was shot down during a 2009 rescue mission in Afghanistan.

Hegar was driven to run for the Senate over climate change, worried about the world in which her young children are growing up. She advocates aggressive goals for expanding clean, renewable energy and investing in clean energy manufacturing and sustainable transportation.

But it is the rising cost of health care that’s uppermost on Texas voters’ minds. She favors a public option making Medicare available to all who want it, and supports measures to lower the cost of prescription drugs.

= Vote BLUE!!!

It is painful to reflect on the tens of thousands of lives that might have been saved if a less reality-challenged President had occupied the White House.

Trump has failed the country.

Medicare is already available to All 65 year old and over. Is she referring to giving all legal United Citizens Medicare? Or is she referring to giving Medicare and Medicaid to all illegal undocumented citizens. South Texas has been doing this scheme a long time ago so she fits right in their deep pockets. They bring in all these illegals to do the hard labor and work for pennies on the dollar for these so called corporations while they get to ride free on taxes. Medicare and Medicaid is federal monies paid by taxes, so these corrupt corporations do not pay for the insurance, because they get exempt from paying because they bring in jobs, not for the legal citizens but for the illegals. Medicare and Medicaid should be controlled by the United State Government and not allocated out to State Governors and local politicians. She is not offering nothing NEW.
