(Ed.'s Note: Like people have been saying, 2020 is proving to be a very different year. This nativity scene, for example, appears to be set up behind the border wall. During the Trump years the word "wall" with all ts connotations became a dirty word. But this creche is really on Elizabeth Street at the Yerberia La Azteca, which specializes in religious paintings, statues and "magic" potions for all sort of real and imagined ills.
Aside from the angel, the three wise men are also depicted as is the baby Jesus, Joseph and Mary and even a donkey said to have been in the manger. With only six days let before Christmas eve and seven before Christmas Day, there will be no Christmas Day parade, the decorations are somewhat muted and – of course – the crowds shopping on Elizabeth Street are not there. With the COVID-19 vaccine on it s way, let's hope normalcy will return one of this days. Meanwhile, let's support our local merchants.)
