Special to El Rrun-Rrun
Ever been downtown and can't find a quarter for the parking meter and the meter guys are fast approaching down the block?
Well, here's where Mayor Trey Mendez comes to the rescue.
Apparently, if you're in need of change, Next Century Cities, a non-profit organization of over 200 communities founded to support communities and their elected leaders, is saying that if you live in our fair city you don't have to go far. In fact, if you're on Adams Street, all you have to do is go to the corner on 12thto Da Mayor's pizza parlor – Dodici's – and you're set.
Next Century Cities in their inaugural yearbook has named Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez as a Change Maker Award Recipient for Mayors Making Strides with Broadband, for a change.
Now, mind you, the city commission is not yet of one mind on whether the broadband will be using land lines like cable, or whether it will install "hotspots" around the city that will make it accessible to local residents. But Mendez has been credited with making change already.
According to Next Century Cities, Mendez has prioritized closing the Digital Divide in Brownsville through partnerships with Texas Southmost College, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Port of Brownsville, Brownsville ISD, Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation, Brownsville Public Utilities Board, and Greater Brownsville Economic Development Corporation.
“The progress made can be credited to this community-wide effort that is focused on developing a long-term solution to the digital divide in Brownsville and access to parking meter cash. The Covid-19 pandemic is showing us that one key component to community resiliency is the ability to stay connected and have some change jingling in your pocket. The City of Brownsville, alongside its partners, is making an impact for change,” said Mendez on the Change Maker Award recognition.

Trey y Erasmo son jotos!!! They need to come out of the closet and be transparent. Especially Erasmo who promises to be transparent IF he ever wins another political seat.
Brownsville gets easily fooled by its politicians, especially the successful ones with their law degrees, or the well-connected socially, like Adela Garza, who really is a do-little, mediocre public servant. Easybeat Tony Zavaleta has done what? Yeah, bitch on self-serving Eddie Trevino, too. Shit on local comedy relief Erasmo Castro all you want. But do know that it is you who vote these losers into office. To a one, they have no concept of public service.
Go Covid-19!
Brownsville disdains change. It likes being the Barrio of The Valley.
Puro pachuco.

La bandeja has priotized closing the digital divide in bronwsville through partnership with the federal jail system named Brownsville Bureau of Prisons (BBOP) which includes BISD, BPUB, BND, GBEDC, BCIC and COB. It does sound like the federal jail system. I guess they all want to get used to those places since some indictments are pending this happy new 2021... FBI is coming FOR YA' ALL!!!
I guess that's all he's got chump change
How many restaurants downtown have 3 reserved parking spots for "takeout" orders?
One
Just the mayors!
Lfrom the hiring of such a poor leader of a city manager to the hiring of a unqualified Police Chief!
NOW the City Manager, Mayor, City Commission along with Chief of Police attempt to defund the Police Department. Now I am sure your asking yourself why would the Chief attempt to defund his own department. Well The Chief Felix Sauceda or as he as known to his men as "El Chapo"; Has only one goal in advancing to another position where he could line his pockets some more..
The Governor should be made aware of these actions the City of Brownsville and Chief Felix Sauceda are taking so the State can take over the Department the same as they are doing to Austin Police Department..
#worstchiefever...
The bully King Trevino is it again with his stupid curfews and mandates that limit the people to celebrate New years Eve! Ese pendejo can go fuk himself! I'm inviting 30 people to my house for a party! What's next? We can't bathe until he gives us permission! Hahahahaha! Idiota!
How ironic that the average citizen pays its parking meter usage while the entire city management staff dont pay a penny for parking their personal cars downtown on metered parking. The upper management staff supposed to park on the city's parking area located on 10th and E. St Charles. They are all too lazy to walk two blocks, instead of setting the example for their employees that do park there, on top of that, they are shortchanging the city's coffers by using metered parking. Is this the definition of "Total Alignment"? Do as I say not as I do. Pathetic leadership.
I love our democrats
Brownsville is nothing more than an extension of Matamoros...one big cancerous sore growing on the tip of Texas. Is there a surgeon that could excise this cesspool of malignancy from the rest of the state?

Trey is nothing but a younger version of Tony Martinez. Both Trey and Eddie Trevino are only in it to enrich themselves.
It is embarrassing to be from browntown.

Oh yeah change....
3 shootings in brownsville this week!
Brownsville city manager Bernal, former city manager in small towns like La Villa, Falfurrias etc turned out to be a dud, fluke for the City of Brownsville, City of Brownsville is too big for this small cat, really city commissioners and Mayor you could not hired any other better qualified candidate? Really? Well 2021 is here and are you (mayor/city commission) going to change anything especially the poor city management, no leadership, no direction, no mission or vision? McAllen sure takes the cake all the time and makes sure the City of Brownsville looks like bad? Oh well guess brownsville city commission is ok with that.
Trey es una loca sumisa
