WANTED: ABLE AND WILLING GLUTTONS FOR PUNISHMENT

 CITY OF BROWNSVILLE WANT ADS:

Wanted, board members to the GBIC, BCIC, Public Library System Advisory Board, Brownsville Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, and the Main Street Advisory Committee.

Requirements: 

Education: No requirement

Must be a willing Yes-man and Yes-woman who will implement any whim the city commissioners want.

Must be unable to think and come to decisions on your own.

Must be ready to be fired at the displeasure of the commissioners.  

Must be ready to be humiliated in public and get removed en masse if the board members do not please them.

Must be willing to be placed under a cloud of suspicion without a chance to defend yourself and then – like GBIC's Graham Sevier – be a willing whipping boy and pander to their whims saying he would love to be reappointed to the same board from which he was removed.

At the library advisory board, must be willing to overlook the fact that the city has an Information Systems director with a GED ruling over people with Master's degrees, and getting paid thousands more!

At the Bicycle and Pedestrian committee, must be willing to continue pouring millions into unused hike-and-bike trails – even funding money to extend 1them to Los Fresnos – while local residents brave the elements at bus stops without a bench or shelter. And if commissioner Rose Gowen walks into the room, must be able and willing to genuflect and grovel and pay her homage.

Must be willing to overlook the fact that it was commissioner Nurith Galonsky who sued the GBIC where she was a member and when she lost a vote to hire a CEO, teamed up with Gowen, Ben Neece, John Cowen, and Mayor Trey Mendez Tuesday to do away with the board.

Must be willing to remove the CEO if set as a precondition for appointment.

Be willing to accept a position that doesn't pay, gets no recognition, and receives plenty of criticism and abuse from those who appointed you to the point of removal!
