(Ed'.s Note: In New York, the delivery sites of COVID-19 vaccine was spread throughout the city to make sure it was accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they had transportation or not. It only makes sense, after all, COVID-19 is an equal opportunity offender.
But like they did with testing, the City of Brownsville is limiting the delivery of the vaccine Friday to the distant Brownsville Sports Park and inaccessible to people who use the Brownsville Urban System (Metro, BUS, etc) because a route does not go there.
And if you're over 65 to be eligible (or have an underlying health condition) for the first round of shots, you better be computer literate, too. If you happen to be on the far side of the digital divide as more than half of the city's elderly clearly are, well, that's tough. And if you claim to have an underlying health condition, there is no requirement to have a doctor's letter to prove it, so you can elbow the old guys out of your way.
And no, you can't register online. All you can do is go to the website below is and retrieve forms that you can print and take the filled applications with you. According to some social media sites, a line has already formed for the shots. Until supplies last.

The vaccine was rolled out on the 1st of December ....Cameron County still hasn’t administered the vaccines they received. They didn’t receive many, hardly enough to make a dent on the population but the fact that they haven’t been administered quickly speaks volumes of the leadership. The federal government should have taken over the administering plan as well. If you leave it to local politicians, county judge and mayor, they will screw it up..... and the fact that we still have vaccines proves it... if I’m not mistaken, the first two doses were given to Rose Gowen and Senator Eddie Lucio, no?
NYC is a city with millions of inhabitants and thousands of health care workers who have the required training to give vaccines. Logistics is not your strength, Montoya. Stick to what you do best.
I went to the site to check this out and discovered that while I can print the "registration" forms, I am unable to fill them out online. Further, I am hesitant to attend a superseder event in an out of the way location (or anywhere else). I am 68 with a number of underlying conditions and am eager to get the vaccine, but I don't wish to catch the virus in doing so!
I can't believe there are so many Valley's vacas that will be dumb enough to take the vaccines! I hope you all get health issues por pendejos! There's a half coco retard mutt who afraid to take it, prefers to hide in his/her/ cardboard closet or in his/her papito Biden's basement! Hahahahaha
There are many very sick and frail Seniors who can't stand in line or attend one of this cattle calls. The County has made no provisions for drive through vaccination. People will die because the County has given no thought to taking care of the most vulnerable among us. Once again a Cameron County governmental entity has failed the people, this time fatally so.

1. Supposedly the Brownsville Health Dept. began handing out vouchers to be used to secure a vaccination at the Sports Park on Friday late on Wednesday.
2. No one knew of this until late on Wednesday
3. The 24 Hour number 247 3650 seems to be unavailable.
4. Someone needs to get off their ass and straighten this nonsense out.
5. Calls to Cameron County Health Department were not useful (they knew nothing about vouchers and simply said to bring printed copies of necessary documentation when going to the park).
6. I am among those who are qualified by state rules (68 and underlying conditions), but I am fast losing faith in the deeply flawed
distribution system in Cameron County.\\
This needs to be addressed urgently. Lives are being lost for no good reason. This isn't rocket science.
Possible solutions:
Much more extensive and widespread distribution by appt. with a readily available and clear Portal for getting on a "list"
I agree that the Feds should have taken a more active role in this since local incompetence is glaringly obvious.
If any reader has any influence in addressing this, please reach out to the local politicos.
Thanks
Disappointing. Poorest region in the state. Even the Winter Texan Canadians get the vaccination before the local people. What a disgrace. Democrats at their best always.
Got in line and was willing to give my covid vaccine voucher to my 88 year old mother. She needed to be present with me ,with her ID ,to get a voucher. I explained to the fireman that she's 88 and I could not have her with me this evening, but could bring her on Friday ( with my voucher). The fireman's response was" My 78 year old mother, who has Alzheimers can't come either, so we're in the same boat" and boasted with his hands by his side.
The difference with these 2 situations is I was willing to forward my vaccine to my mom. This vaccine distribution is really difficult for the much elderly to access, especially if they don't drive. The way Brownsville did this, get in line with your ID to get a voucher and get in line another day for the vaccine. I appreciate everything the city is doing to get the vaccine out. I know we are just a number and you've had a long day, but practice some empathy. Thanks to all the police officers and fire fighters in helping the community tonight. Mayor and County judge help make this easier for our elderly.
@2:29 Ya te operates Pinche transgender mutt? Are you a he or she? Don't know?Just tell me if you pee standing up or sitting down! 🚽 Hahahaha!
My mother-in-law, 83 yrs old, had an appointment for last Friday to get her vaccine at the clinic on 22nd. She got up early and anxiously waited for her scheduled appointment. She kept seeing people going in and out who were younger than most that were there. About 15 minutes before her scheduled appointment, a nurse came out and told them to go home cause they were out of vaccines. How could that be? If 10 appointments are made, it means you have 19 vaccines but not given to just anyone they know and/or related to them. My
mother-in-law called crying for me to pick her up cause they had sent her off without the shot. Several other people were in the same dilemma. What gives?
Who is checking that regulations are being followed?
