Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement: “Donald Trump started his campaign with hate-filled rhetoric about Mexicans and his time in power will end as he highlights the most divisive symbol of his presidency, a wall that tears apart our border communities. In a week where we’ve seen the dangers of Trumpism and Trump’s incendiary rhetoric, Donald Trump is going back to his most dangerous and hate-filled play book.
"Instead of focusing on distributing the vaccine for Texans most at-risk, apologizing for inciting domestic terrorists to attack our nation’s Capitol, or working to ensure a smooth transition for President-elect Biden, Donald Trump is once again coming to Texas to highlight his stupid wall that no one wanted, that he failed to build, and that Mexico did not pay for.
“Texans and Americans everywhere are struggling. In South Texas, those struggles are the difference between life and death. South Texans need a real plan for the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine, $2000 checks so every South Texas family has a better chance at economic security, and a real jobs plan rooted in helping working people to build our economy back better.”
