(Ed.'s Note: It's easy to just walk or drive by cactus and weeds growing behind a chain-link fence in a downtown alley without noticing some of the natural beauty therein. But upon closer inspection, the observer will notice the new cactus pads sprouting the new fruit which will flower and whose pollen will be carried by bees and insects to pollinate other plants nearby.
The new light green cactus pad near the middle shows that some bird, animal or rodent has already fed on it and the weeds with the bright blue blooms will be pollinated as well and seed to grow new weeds next season. Where is our Van Gogh or Matisse to take his palette and create works that will – like Van Gogh's sunflowers – transmit the simple beauty of the lowly cactus and weeds to art lovers everywhere?)
