GMS ROLLING STOCK DRENCHES DOWNTOWN IN OIL

(Ed.'s Note: By now local residents have grown accustomed to the daily oil spillage from GMS rolling stock in the downtown area – even in the shadow of City Hall – that the sight has become ubiquitous and accepted. Since the city's contract with GMS has been placed on a month-to-month basis after a tie vote by the city commission on a new contract.

There doesn't seem to too much concern in the city's code enforcement department with pools of hydraulic present at almost every dumpster in the city's alleyways and streets. Notice the difference between GMS route and the Redfish dumpster at top which does not exhibit spilled oil in front of it.

Let's not forget that when the oil runs off with rainwater it ends up in our local resacas, contaminating them and the wildlife that live in and around them them. Will the city perform an inspection of the garbage hauler's barn and make them clean up their act? Don't hold your breath and watch your step.)

GMS needs to replace their truck fleet. That same truck fleet has been around since I was a kid. That would make that truck fleet 30 to 40 years old. Those trucks have never even been given a paint touch up. Some of those trucks still have the faded BROWNSVILLE SHINES slogan on them. For those who don't remember BROWNSVILLE SHINES was a slogan the city used in the 80's and 90's to push city beautification.

Juan GMS came into existance to serve brownsville in 1980 when former Mayor Emilio Hernandez was in office, mid 1980's gee whiz i sure they made millions of dollars on the commercial garbage pickup all of these years and they cant buy new trucks or equipment? come on, whos is the owner of this rolling junkyard? Some guy whos last named is Torres? Smells pretty fishy here, or garbage like. .

Direct Rose Gowen to drive her bike down those alleys! Hey, has anyone ever seen her driving a bike? She promotes health? Oh, it must be the camera that make her look super bloated. Practice what you preach and get to work with the major defaults in Brownsville, besides bikes and restaurants.
