(Ed.'s note: Merrily, merrily go the GMS trash trucks soaking the city roads, streets and alleyways with motor and hydraulic every day. None of our city officials or environmental inspectors seem to give a hoot. When it rains, the oil runs off into our resacas, our soil, and finally into the river and waterways leading to the Gulf. GMS is operating on a month to month basis and probably doesn't care about the condition of its aging fleet. How long can this last?
What if a pedestrian slips and falls or - God forbid - commissioner Rose Gowen or another cyclist, slips on the pools and trails of oil these dinosaur trucks spill all over the city?
