MOVEABLE FEAST: GARZA'S STIMULUS EXPRESS AT OYSTER BAR

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

A local attorney's Stimulus Express is on the roll again!

Saying it's time for members of the Cameron County Bar to do its part to help stimulate local businesses hard hit by the pandemic, Brownsville attorney Reynaldo "Trey" Garza has extended an invitation to its members to join him for lunch this Thursday (today) at a Brownsville restaurant.

An the first round will be on him, he said.

"I challenge local attorneys to pick one and do the same," he said. "This is open to all citizens, not just attorneys. It can be tea, water, beer, or whatever. We are going to get this moving and help local businesses."

Call it a kind of Cameron County Bar Stimulus Express.

To sweeten the deal, he says he will buy the first round of libations to those who accept his invitation to join him for lunch noon Thursday (tomorrow) at former mayor Henry Gonzalez's Oyster Bar at 153 Paredes Line Rd.

"In an effort to support local businesses, I am buying a round of drinks at the Oyster Bar for everybody who shows up Thursday between noon and 1 p.m.," he emailed local attorneys.

"It's time to get back to business."

Garza, grandson of Reynaldo Garza, the first United States Hispanic federal district judge who appointed by President J.F. Kennedy, says it was time local attorneys did their part to help local businesses confront the effects of the year-long pandemic.

"Let's get this town moving forward," he said. "Next Friday we will choose another restaurant for our Stimulus Express. I emailed more than 1,000 colleagues. Let's get the ball rolling."

And next week?

'If someone has any suggestion on a restaurant, suggest a few and we'll consider them. The idea is to support our local businesses."

Call me jaded but it sound like he is going to announce for Congressman Vela's seat.

Before Covid I was a regular at the Oyster Bar. It is good service and good food.

But just call me jaded.

El Paya Jerry has gone full-boring, Juan. Parece que lo golpea su edad. 70 y se ve todo gastado, hasta como una viejita toda arrugada. Camina en paso lento porque no puede mas.

Se estan viendo los ultimos dias de un Cagapalo!

Seriously Juanito

Anytime there's an open bar call you're the first one in line. I've witnessed it myself. Bet you a drink you won't post this. Beneath your character. Actually above your character. You are a fucking hypocrite. A wanttobe Veteran who should not wear the colors. Other than orange.

They are going to have to clean up that place very thoroughly before they can let any humans go in there again. Please place a notice in the local daily that it has been cleaned so the rest of us can go there again.

Do not be rude. Juanito has to go where important people meet to talk, to take notes, to get inside information. Some people know how to drink. Some people drink and want to fight, argue, talk, reveal secret information etc

Leave Juantio alone.
