(Ed.'s Note: Call it a Eureka moment. Here's At-Large "B" commissioner Rose Gowen's answer to the Tenaska debacle which saw our utility rates from PUB rise to some 35 percent to build the Power Plant to Nowhere. It's ironic that it was Gowen under former Mayor Tony Martinez's administration who was on the city commission when the hikes in PUB rates were approved. If we remember correctly, she might have made the motion or seconded it way back in December 2012.
Guess what? Tenaska pulled out of the deal in 2017, but the rates stayed the same. Now this novel idea: use pedal power to produce the power we need to run this town. Can't afford a bike? Not to worry, we'll just tack it on to your PUB bill and you will hardly notice.)
