GOWEN: I HAVE LOWERED DIABETES, TRAILS MAKE MILLIONS AND I'LL HYPE THE BIKE MYTH IN MY BID FOR REELECTION

By It's Time Texas

"City Commissioner of Brownsville for twelve years, Rose Gowen, a local physician in Brownsville, ran for office when she saw how much higher her hometown ranked in diabetes and other chronic diseases (one in three people were diabetic at the time; now, since her entry into office, it’s one in four)."

With health as a priority, Gowen knew creating a large network of trails would need more of a backbone reason besides “making the town healthier.” So, she did her research.

Gowen learned the term “active tourism” and saw other towns throughout the United States were using this concept to earn billions of dollars in tourism each year."

Constructing 263 miles of new bicycle route, paddling trail, and multi-use trail will cost an estimated $113.3 million. During construction, this investment will support an estimated 1,377 full-time jobs, $44.3 million wages, and $173 million in total economic impact within Cameron County.

The completed system of trails and routes will attract more than three million walkers, hikers, bicyclists, and paddlers annually.

Visitors from outside Cameron County will spend an estimated $69.7 million per year related to use of the completed system. Each year, that visitor spending would support 958 full-time jobs in Cameron County, $29.6 mil-lion in wages, and $100.2 million in total economic impact within the county.

Out-of-county visitor spending would put $8.4 million tax revenues in local and state government coffers, and yield $7.6 million in federal taxes."

(Por favor, Rose. Ni tu te tragas estas mentiras!)

An utterly uncultured town fights against advanced culture.

Maybe you want more burro alleys in Brownsville, Montoya.

Enough of useless bikelines downtown, enough of ill-attended Cyclovias, enough of favoritism, enough of arrogance, dont elect anyone who does not pay property taxes. Vote them out for good.

Is Gowen one of the 4 who has diabetes? She surely looks like a bit overweight, so what good is the bike doing for her? She, like Elia-Cornejo Lopez have homes that have been designated as historical. Who designated them and why?
