NUMBERS, WORDS, CONCEPTS; A MIGRANT SCHOOL REUNION

We met again
By chance
After some 50 years

No fancy invitation,
RSVP,
Merely a phone call
"We're here..."

My school days chums and me

Tony was our numbers guy
Accountant, he

Rene, reveled in concepts,
A PhD.
And Economics,
Were clear to him

And me
A simple man of words
A journalist,
The word game
Was for me

Tony's accounting firm
Prospers in Corpus
By the sea

Rene retired
A doctor in economics
From State
in East Lansing

We sat around
And drank a few
Unwound the spool
About our days as kids
At CastaƱeda,
the migrant school

Recalled Garcia, Cavazos,
Even Gallegos
And other teachers,
Who taught and loved
Segregated kids
Like us

Toasted to life
And wondered what could have been
If all the migrant kids
Had the same chance
As we

The Three:
The numbers, concepts,
And the words man,
Me

Capt. Bob is a cantina joke (What came first, the chiecken or Capt. Bob?), but he's not an election official and hopefully never will be, cause he's a stupid Mexican Republican.

Neece usually cares about his words, but Sanchez has long-needed an ass-whoppin'. El Paya Jerry McHale claims he got into it with Sanchez over a backpack, but El Paya also went chicken against Pat Ahumada, the former mayor who almost kicked Paya's ass in a bar.

The fight we're all waiting for is between Capt. Bob and Rene Oliveira, the guy who took Sanchez's wife and, according to the captain, introduced her to some wicked sex.

She was gonna be an actress
And I was gonna learn to fly
She took off to find a working man
While I'm still getting high

Juan's life mission has been to resurrect the reputation of the border outlaw Juan N. Cortina. That has been is mountain climb, and he's still hoofin' it.

The migrants remain an integral part of our society and, surely, some day we'll see a monument to their tireless effort, perhaps here in Brownsville - a city that needs, but can't seem to find heroes for our young.

Education for Capt. Bob -

“You never know how tall a man is, until he kneels down to a child.”

You gave up your children, didn't you?

El Paya Jerry McHale, cadaver-looking as all Hell, is still doing his damndest to paste his own nickname on candidate Carlos Elizondo -

"Old and rejected are Jessica Puente-Bradshaw and El Paya Carlos Elizondo."

El Paya is 70, and looks 85. Elizondo is not.

Que le pasa a Paya Mchale. Senile puto?

Their accomplishments in spite of adversity and humble beginnings should be celebrated. All 3 are good people. Bravo!

Millions of people stuck at home for more than a year are expected to hit the road for much-needed post-pandemic vacations this summer. Good luck finding gas.

Not that there's a looming shortage of crude oil or gasoline. Rather, it's the tanker truck drivers needed to deliver the gas to stations who are in short supply.

According to the National Tank Truck Carriers, the industry's trade group, somewhere between 20% to 25% of tank trucks in the fleet are parked heading into this summer due to a paucity of qualified drivers. At this point in 2019, only 10% of trucks were sitting idle for that reason.

You be the Judge How'd all this attention get focused on Chief Sauceda well here is the true story. Most of the people writing in say because of his poor leadership that is correct but not his fault he had never really been a true supervisor at any level as a Sergeant he wasn't on the streets for very long then moved to evidence room and jail. Then over to the Special Investigations Unit where he really messed things up, comprised himself and the Police Department and probably would be sitting in jail somewhere if it wasn't for the kindness of the former Chief Rodriguez. Chief Sauceda was removed immediately than allowed to promote where he became a Lieutenant and spent his time as the Commander's secretary where most of his time was spent sending out emails.
Now for the rest of the story, when the Commander he worked for became entangled in a power struggle with Commissioner Tetreau over guess who Diane Martinez. The fight was over Diane's scheduling Because Diana refused to work late and did not want to work weekend's so she involved her good friend Commissioner Tetreau who then called the Commander at the time and told him to change Diane's schedule immediately and threatened to end his career if she didn't get her wish.
Well here is where It all got crazy Ex- Chief Orlando Rodriguez had all ready put in for retirement so he left the most senior Commander in Charge James Paschal. Now Lieutenant Felix Sauceda seeing the opportunity to advance made friends with Commissioner Tetreau promising that if he was made Chief of Police he would take care of the commissioners best friend Diane. So the story unfolds; At the order of Commissioner Tetreau
Acting Chief Jams Paschall then demotes Commander Dale and makes Lieutenant Felix Sauceda ACTING Commander a position he holds very briefly, a short period later to everyone's suprise he is named Chief of Police over some very qualified individuals. So whoever said that Chief Felix Sauceda is not at fault for Diane's actions well that's not totally true but Chief Sauceda sure played a major role. Diane was given a special work schedule that no one knew about or even where she was assigned to work.
Now back to her arrest it is common practice that minor thefts are given a citation and released but if an officer is involved those decisions to arrest come from the Commander and Chief. So with Commissioner Tetreau and Diane no longer friends this was the Chief's time to get revenge on Diane. Unbeknownst to all of PD there were several more thefts pending.
Now Chief Sauceda is in the processes of hiring of Rehiring Diane Martinez along with another Officer Rey Rios who was fired after a hit and run accident and fleeing on foot from DPS. Great Going Chief Sauceda-Bernal you have now made yourself look like the total Idiot you truly are!

Most of the Valley’s law enforcement officers are uneducated and basically are morons. I had a student years ago in Rio Hondo named Javier. He was “special ed”. The work was modified from 4 choices to 2 choices. He is now a cop. Can you imagine that.

The City is in total Misalignment...Terrible job Bernal is doing...No leadership skills what so ever.. Everything this guy does he read in some book and expects it to work by having his Department heads read the same book then has a meeting to talk about what they learned... THIS is what they do in a book club!!!
Bernal hires people from outside the city pays them outrageous salaries.
He had a female do some training for all departments when she could not communicate in English she gave the whole training in Spanish... Wtf is wrong with the City Of Brownsville...Let's get rid of this Thief Bernal and get an experienced leader..
