It's ironic that it was Rose Gowen under former Mayor Tony Martinez's administration who was on the city commission when the hikes in PUB rates were approved. If we remember correctly, she voted for it, as did the entire commission, way back in December 2012.

Brownsville Herald's Sunday edition on April 25th (second page) shows a full page on the reopening of Farmer's market yet the vendor has a t-shirt endorsing Gowen for reelection. Was this about the Farmer's market or free political advertising? That's a complete conflict of interest on my opinion. I believe that the herald should have abstained from publishing that picture in the name of transparency.

All the incumbents expressed the same goals - help their family and friends, jobs for all their families and friends, get their property designated historical so that way they won't pay property taxes, open up businesses in the downtown area where loans are readily available only for them, personal enrichment enhances their personality to feel rich and famous.

Commissioner Ben Neece mentioned on his campaign goals that he intends to address parking issues downtown. He should start by demanding that the entire city Managers's staff including the HR director to abstain from parking on metered parking while at work. They all have designated parking areas two blocks away across City Plaza but are too lazy to walk the two blocks and at the same time, they're taking much needed revenue away from city coffers. City manager keeps boasting about Total Alignment but yet, fails to set the example as a true leader. Pathetic.
