U.S MARSHALS FIND HIT MAN WHO ESCAPED FROM SHERIFF'S CUSTODY AT HARLINGEN ANNEX AFTER TRANSFER BY FEDS

 Special to El Rrun-Rrun

Investigators from the The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Search Task Force have captured an alleged hit man who escaped from the custody of the Cameron County Sheriff's Department after he was transferred to the sheriff for custody as a federal prisoner.

The escape happened Wednesday at about 7 p.m. from the Harlingen County Annex, unofficial sources assert.

At the time, there were only four units on patrol and the one deputy from whom he escaped was alone in the Harlingen, area, sources say, and was awaiting backup from the unit at Los Fresnos.

The prisoner, whose name has not been released, is of Puerto Rican descent who came to Cameron County – according to law enforcement sources – to execute a hit on an undisclosed target was a federal inmate.

The federal agents reportedly placed him in the custody of the sheriff and he apparently escaped wearing handcuffs when he fled from the Harlingen building.

No information has been given on the man's identity or released details of his recapture by the marshals by the sheriff's department.

Thank you Gloria Rincones for putting a hit man on the street by leaving the Sheriff understaffed. Any deaths are on you Gloria.

Wow! This really really bad the system is Broken at Sherriff Dept and poses a serious danger to the people of Cameron County either the county Judge and county commissioners cannot control this defunct dept or they must call in the justice dept to restore some kind of order.

Good law enforcement work, I'd say there Montoya.

Mindful of its duties, and staying away from selfish politics, the sheriff's office could be something to be proud of - it could.

Raise your game, Eric Garza.

Grow into the job as the leader, not the puppet.

That’s the kind of courthouse security needed, huh… 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

There is no supervision at the Office. Eric Garza shows up looking hung over with the same pants everyday and with a wrinkled shirt. Robert Gracia is always taking days off! Like now, he is not coming in till next week. The office has fallen apart. All divisions are short of manpower. Morale is at an all time low.

There are 70 openings now at the jail. It's time for commissioners to question the safety at the jail. Everyone is tired and dragging to come to work. A recipe for disaster.

Jailers are quitting because they are upset about Garza hiring his friends and they don't have to deal with inmates. They have cushion jobs and are assigned take home vehicles.

I wonder if Abraham Rodriguez ever got past Highway 100 to make it to that call. He probably needed GPS to make it to the Harlingen SO

Eric Garza needs a maid to do his laundry. He dresses like he slept with his clothes on.

It has been reported that Eric Garza and Gracia are suspected of being connected to the Cartel. Sounds very suspicious. Escapes haven't happened like this in quite a while...oh well keep picking them from the same pool and keep getting the same results. Now Garza is going to be in charge of courthouse security. Wow so it will be easy to plan escapes for high profile criminals. There is nothing preventing the Commissioners from hiring an officer or officers to watch and investigate the sheriff's department and provide back up security in a perimeter around the courthouse. There is noting preventing the Commissioners from funding officers to follow and observe the sheriff's department. I say defund the Sheriff's department and reduce positions in the upcoming budget. Then increase the budget for the constables and allow them to pick up the load. The Texas constitution places the requirement of Animal control, operation of the Jail, and Courthouse security in the care of The Sheriff. County Law Enforcement responsibilities are given to which ever agency the Commissioners fund. I recommend funding the Constables and allow them to pick up Law Enforcement duties.

You put Rick Cornejo to answer to commissioners court? Really? You would have been better off putting Rita the cleaning lady. She has way more experience than both of you put together.

Interested in the opine of the Toddle Inn crew. Something isn’t squaring up here. Following the drama in past administration changes, we’ve always seen the commissary contract as the first order of business for the incoming Sheriff. Nary a peep. Something’s afoot and rotten in Denmark. Many sincerely hoped for change and feel let down, that one clique is replacing another.
Is there a reporter in the valley that would ask Alex or Omar their opinion of what’s going on? How many county’s in Texas have the Sheriff administrative authority over the courthouse.

Can’t believe that our local media hasn’t weighed in on, and interviewed persons with knowledge about the state of affairs in this most important situation facing the safety and security of our Cameron County.

......should have made Elon run utilities to the beach from the river to the cut, to include; electric, water, wastewater, (his high-tech internet) and affordable green Tesla solar and battery technology to the residents of the RGV.

I’d still rather see the Lozano Junkyard instead of the Academy store strip center that brings nothing locally to the table.

Politicians....... the RGV is the only frontier left in the lower 48. Don’t sell us out. Most would rather leave it as it is than destroy it with concessions from outside interests.

If we don’t hold our local leaders accountable for the blatant wholesale pimping of out resources, we’ll have no one to blame but ourselves.

I heard that a Hollywood production company is coming down here with a very distinguished director to start a film on some law enforcement agency. They choice this place because of the availability of local professionals here in producing films, actors and other necessary experts in films. A movie about a stumbling, bumbling law agency is the main theme.

The film is about a bumbling sheriff, clueless deputies, slow-witted buffoons and how the local slow thinking voters elected this officer. It also includes a class of characters (city commissioners) showcasing their values and traits from this bumbling community.

Commentators and other film critics are jumping with joy that they finally have a block buster in their hands...
(haha)

Big talent drain over the past few years at the jail. Experienced jail administration, commanders, majors, captains, & lieutenants, all with 25 to 30 plus years of experience. All were sent to training over the years and were considered among the best in the state. That loss is evident and seen even in the Lucio days. The decline is also attributed to the dismal salaries paid and no incentive for jailers to attend an academy to pursue their peace officers certification. Most agencies the size of CC have many incentives for all their employees to stay and move up through the ranks.

I hope the county commissioners work with the Sheriff to provide a realistic training budget for the jail staff and include everyone instead of a select few.

No DA for Cameron County!

Anonymous said...

Still posting during working hours? Where's the DA where's that judge? Get to work get in your patrol unit and chase some rabbits or raccons or tacuaches do something useful idiotas GET TO WORK NO UNITS PATROL NO WHERE!!!!

Anonymous said...

That super highway between alton gloor and 511 is that used to practice and or test your race car? Where are the country patrol units? WHAT posting on the computer DO SOMETHING SOMEBODY before somebody gets hurt.

Convicts are always trying to escape, its on their mind all the freaking time. I just drove by 511 and saw a man escape from two Border Patrol agents. Men escape from courts, others escape from prison facilities, even Juvenile young men escape. Law enforcement can not win all the time. All of you are upset because Sheriff took away your easy jobs. Now you are working.
Who ever thought of getting back at Sheriff by making him sending his own deputies to cover the courts, and saw it like being clever. Sheriff I think used it as blessing from the sky, HE WAS ABLE TO ASSIGN 15 MEN THAT WERE JUST TAKING SPACE AT THE DEPT. MAINLY MEN THAT REYNAS AND LUCIO PLACED IN RANK POSITIONS OR EASY JOBS AND HAVE NOT DONE A TRAFFIC STOP IN MONTHS. HE IS NOT GOING TO SEND THE PRODUCTIVE DEPUTIES TO THE COURTS. WHEN THE JUDGE GIVES HIM THE 15 GOMEZ CONSTABLES ARE NOW COMING TO THE DEPT UNDER ANOTHER CIRCUMSTANCES, SHOULD REAPPLY. EL SHERIFF IS PLAYING CHESS WHILE THE OPPOSE CAN BARELY PLAY CHECKERS. LOL.
I'M AN OUTSIDER, I HAVE MY OWN BUSSINESS AND SOME BPD, BORDER PATROL, CONSTABLES PCT 2 AND SOME FROM PCT 4 AND 5, AND SHERIFF DEPUTIES COME IN MY BUSSINESS. I ALWAYS PICK THEIR MINDS, EVERYONE IS SPEAKING HIGHLY OF THE DEPT. AND THE SHERIFF.
I WRITE THIS BECAUSE I HATE THAT NO ONE STEPS UP FROM THE PRESENT ADMIN TO DEFEND THE DEPT OR STATE THEIR SIDE OF THE STORY. BUT THEN I THINK MAYBE THEY DON'T WRITE ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY ACT OR PROOF THEMSELVES WITH ACTION. FOR EX. I HEARD THE SHERIFF DEPT HAS RECENTLY TRAINED DEPUTIES TO CARRY OUT DWI. SOMETHING LUCIO AND HIS ADMIN NEVER DID. THEY HAD TO CALL BPD AND HWY PATROL TO CARRRY THE FIELD TEST. JUST THAT ACTION SHOULD TELL US THE VOTERS THAT MR. ERIK GARZA AND HIS ADMIN ARE MOVING FORWARD AND PRODUCING POSITIVE ACTIONS. THE DEPUTIES THAT COME IN TO MY BUSINESS CARRY THEMSELVES WITH MORE PRIDE. I CAN SEE THE CHANGE MILES AWAY. Sorry for being blunt about the men that were sent to courts, but come on its obvious he was not going to send productive men over there. Now he will get to choose who he wants to keep from the 15 constables maybe get 3 or 4 from his deputies back to the dept and replace them with some of the constables.
Chess my friends. CHESS..... Check MATE

EL SHERIFF IS PLAYING CHESS??? LMFAO

"THE SHERIFF DEPT HAS RECENTLY TRAINED DEPUTIES TO CARRY OUT DWI"

STFU eric! Wtf are you going to do when you only have 4 deputies for the entire county and two of those are busy doing a DWI for 4 hours, there is a reason we relay on DPS for that dumbass....but we dont expect for you to know that reserve constable with a badge purchased at Mannys.

HUEVOS a missing commodity in cameron county officials. Where's the DA?

If commissioners court said Eric Garza's actions on forcefully taking over the court security before TRO was filed was "unlawful and outside the scope of his duties", why are there only cricket sounds coming from the District Attorney's office?

Lozanos Junkyard. Ha! Remembering when it rained, you could tippy toe on the planks provided from the muddy parking space to the techo where the parts were. That place was classic, a real gem that was considered north Brownsville. Can’t find a real Junk yard in the whole Rio Grande Valley. I agree that most strip centers have the same a’la carte business; mobile phone company, nail salon, taco joint, payday loan center, and whatever trend store is in favor. Damn, I miss Lozano’s Junkyard. Real fine people those Lozanos.

Well, that proves the inexperience at sheriff and then the lack of common sense by that retired fed idiot, Gracia. You have a known or suspected hit man and you have ONE deputy to transport? Where is the common sense in this? Bad enough that the Feds in all their glorious wisdom allowed the sheriff office to transport? This escapee obviously works for money and doubt that one individual had hired him? So, this hit man is connected and probably with the cartel? So, I guess this answers the question about the fifteen courthouse officers being out of a job? That' what happens when you elect an inexperienced person to lead an agency. Huh, remember you idiots who voted for conrado cantu? This is looking like a rerun! Recall is in order for a new sheriff!

Yes El Sheriff playing Chess with you SOB that don't want to leave the "Chiche" Ponte a jalar guey. Los platones.
why noone brings up the escape on Dr. Office on Boca Chica Blvd when Reyna's sent a Jailor to transport inmate and he escaped and KILLED an innocent man in a nearby neighborhood in front of his terrified wife, taking the family car. A constable stopped him and engaged in fire with him at San Benito. Suspect used Guns from the dead's man home against the officers.
Glad you accepted the FACT that the Sheriff Dept. never did DWI arrest before, Now the Deputies will be trained correctly and do DWI arrest.
CHANGE that Cameron County wanted and VOTED for. Give it up, accept the fact our county is moving forward in a positive way.

Sheriff, now with your officers more trained, you need find the means to pay them more. Find some bond monies, offer early retirement to get rid of the old timers with incentives, and use the saved money to give pay raises. Use Commissary money if it is allowed, maybe get a better fuel contract and save money there. Some how give raises to your deputies.

The new Admin, Gracia and I don't know the other guy everyone talks about, do your part and support your Sheriff. You can see that some people are going to continue to burn Mr. Garza, you need to show everyone that he got the right men for the job. IF NOT, SHERIFF move them out and find others. The job has to be done and done right.

Good luck. good luck really to all, the new and the old. move on folks, you had your time, now its other peoples time to try to bring change. If he doesnt cut it, we will VOTE him out next term. Right now he is implementing change, he promised change, we wanted change, you are part of the change we wanted your group out. Move on, or do a good job for the people of Cameron. You guys are mad at the new admin, the people of Cameron county are not to blame.
