As promised by the new board majority of the Brownsville Independent School District, redundant positions at the top of its administrative ladder are being trimmed and a reorganization of its personnel has been undertaken to make it mean and lean to maximize its budget.
An example of this new policy, said BISD President Eddie Garcia, trustees unanimously approved administration’s recommendations to fill two campus principal positions.
During that same meeting, Jimmy Haynes, formerly in charge of District Operations will assume the duties of principal at Garden Park Elementary.
Dr. Timothy Cuff – formerly Assistant Superintendent Support Services – will assume the duties of principal at Sharp Elementary. Cuff, who has a total of 43 years of experience as an educator and has served in various positions such as superintendent, assistant superintendent, and principal, will be replacing Irma Segura who has served as principal at Sharp for the last eight years.
During that same meeting, Jimmy Haynes, formerly in charge of District Operations will assume the duties of principal at Garden Park Elementary.
Haynes has a total of 39 years of experience as an educator and has served in various positions such as assistant superintendent, principal, assistant principal, and as an educator/coach.
He will be replacing Victor Caballero who has served as the principal at Garden Park for the past six years.
In a statement issued May 7, Superintendent Dr. Rene Gutierrez said that BISD was in need of experienced principals and the establishment of a "culture of school community." He said the district is fortunate to have experienced administrators who are ready to transition into a principal role. The district is also looking forward to smooth transitions as the torch at the schools is handed from one education professional to another.

"The board and superintendent continue to work in the best interest of the district," Garcia said. "We were able to work through the whole school year keeping everybody working without handing pink slips or subjecting our employees to a loss of wages. We faced the pandemic and continued to meet face to face and kept out main office to the public as well."
Other personnel changes announced Tuesday includes the appointment of Aimee Garza-Limon from her position as principal at Brownsville Early College High School to principal at Lopez Early College High School. Garza-Limon – with 27 years experience – previously served as Rivera Early College High School.
She replaces principal Dahlia Aguilar as principal for the last 10 years.
Felipe Barrera, a human resource specialist with 20 years experience,
will assume the duties at Paredes Elementary. He will be replacing Melissa Werbisky who served as principal at Paredes for the last five years.

Marco Marquez, with 25 years of experience and was an assistant principal at the Los Fresnos CISD Alternative Education Placement Center, will take over the duties of principal at Pullam Elementary. He will replace Celia de los Santos who served as Pullam principal for the last 11 years.
She replaces principal Dahlia Aguilar as principal for the last 10 years.
And Beatriz Hernandez, with 20 years experience and is now principal at Perkins Middle School, will assume the duties as administrator for assessment, research and evaluation. She will replace Pam Van Ravenswaay who served as administrator for the last nine years.
The BISD is the Rio Grande Valley's largest employer with 54 schools and 6,458 workers and 43,028 students. It boasts of a 93 percent graduation rate.

Most that are being replaced are retiring because they refuse to work for a so-called team if inept top administrators.
Why does Gutierrez need two women to lead his by his reigns? He does nothing to even deserve any complements that the board continues to praise him for. He has not started one new thing or program in BISD which is still working with projects that were set way back in 1990 and 2015 by our previous supt.
Yet, she was not allowed to hire or replace open positions when she was here and the district ran smoothly and professionally.
Quien los entiende? There's an average of 40k students. During the budget meeting it was mentioned there were several positions being eliminated after some personnel either retired or transferred. Glad this board is taking action and looks like they're working together for once finally at least for now. Hope that continues to be the case. From the looks not everyone will be pleased but that's always the case. Past (last school year) and current board have been criticized during this pandemic year. I personally feel this administration and board has been trying and been hard at work.

Where are all the former principals going?
Some of those "administrators" need to RETIRE. Some have been there for EVER. Hector Hernandez not mentioned. Principal that never made it to administration but was involved in some "scandals" and never touched just moved around like some priests. Norma Canales has been @ Rivera longer than Aimee Garza=-Limon, yet she was not touched in the re arranging. They didn't reduce personnel, they just moved them around. Former superintendents did that to principals after 3 yrs. and if they didn't make any progress with student testing, they were moved.

Will the salaries of Cuff and Haynes get cut? These two earn more than $160k, just do a Public Info Montoya and post it so the Tax Payers know where their money is going too. Board Member Eddie Garcia, we are no fools like you. Cuff will no longer see his movidas at CAB, M. Tolman and R. Larrasqutu. Cuff was seen at CAB giving his farewell to employees and had a tolman luncheon. Larraquitu who is Tia to Denise Garza, Board Member, is telling employees she will be getting a new title so Tolman can get one too. BISD will never cut back, it's new members and their familia. There is no cutting the waste in big salaries it's a big fking lie.
Hopefully the board grows enough of a pair to bitch slap Linda Gallegos into place. That lady is as rude as they come and definitely not well in the head. She treats her staff and other BISD employees like they are peasants. She treats security and school PD like they are her servants as she raises her voice at them and bosses them around. I quit BISD because Chief Garcia has zero balls when he thinks he knows it all and wouldn't stand up for us as he catered to all administrators and would jump when Gallegos ordered him to jump. Maybe she and Garcia get along so well because both of them have mental issues like bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. I'm serious and I am not making fun of people that habe those illnesses.

Tim Cuff needs to retire. I left two years ago and he was bounced all over back then. Tim was promised a Superintendent position by Tolman and Atkinson. Look where Atkinson is and Cuff got played. Poor Tim, back then he was known to be by Tolmans side everyday. Employees would say he lived there in her office. But I was wrong, I guess he wanted Larrasquitu? What a love triangle in BISD. When do these people work, just retire Tim.
Cuff and Haynes were demoted to Principle positions which there salaries will be aligned to that of an Elementary Principle. As for the others they weren't placed they applied for the vacancies and got the job. The vacancies were there due to principles across the district will be retiring at the end of there contract.
I'm sure after this there will be plenty of reshuffling of people around. Too many supervisors, coordinators, campus administration being lazy, complacent in there positions and Principles stating at the assigned campus for far to long!!
This is a perfect time to evaluate certain departments that can run out of campuses. Makes sense if we are losing student enrollment then we should be realigning departments as well.
LOL. BISD is way to top heavy and you have a supt that only visits schools when there is a camera.
But this board approves of it...so who cares.

I learned this in elementary school: It is "principal" when referring to a person and "principle" when referring to rule, guideline, fact, etc.
Perhaps you skipped this during your education. You jumped immediately to gossip, chisme, etc., and other such nonsense. It is apparent that you prefer gossip and chisme as your guide to maliciously and erroneously state your misguided version of facts.
Don’t be ignorant, a hater or envious.
What you think you see seems to be obscured because your vision is affected by the apparent fact that you are so full of shit.
