AUSTIN-- HB 3264 by Representative Alex Dominguez (D-Brownsville) was unanimously approved by the Texas House of Representatives this week, with a vote of 145-0. The affirmative vote sends the legislation to the Texas Senate with the potential for immediate effect if it secures two-thirds approval in that chamber.
HB 3264 seeks to establish a soft skills training pilot program in Cameron County through the Texas Workforce Commission. The commission shall offer a six-week course and award a certificate of completion for successful participants in the program.
By December 1, 2022, the commission shall evaluate the pilot program and report the outcome to the legislature.
The bill has received consistent support, with Representative Ryan Guillen and Representative Eddie Lucio III joining the effort.
"With the digital and virtual nature of our business interactions, there is a growing lack of soft skills among employees, customers, and employers. HB 3264 aims to help Texans gain those skills," Dominguez said. "This program will provide a crucial service both to its participants and our economy, and I am honored to bring it to Cameron County."
HB 3264 now heads to the Texas Senate for consideration.

This is good because the Cameron County office has always been short changed in training compared to other parts of the state.

As a white working man I just gotta say to the Mexicans...Genuinely Thank you for working harder than most people and for doing the jobs many refuse to do. Illegal or not they lighten our load and make it convenient for the rest of us.
From picking and growing your food to building your homes and keeping, them as nice as you want them to. They bring thier heritage with them, and that includes some damn good recipes. Illegal doesn't always mean criminal; it just means theyre willing to take a risk most of you wouldn't to take care of themselves and their families.
Hard demeaning jobs with little to no benefits and usually done with a smile. Fuck it let's trade places with these guys, even for a month and tell me you still want them out.
Alex, vete a Washington para que hagas menos!
Seria es la cosa.
Sirol.
Another State boondoggle. Almost 100% of the monies coming to the State Workforce Commission is FEDERAL dollars. The State always gets a cut of the Federal dollars to support their workforce bureaucracy and they always abuse the privilege with half-wit ideas such as this!
You can be sure that somewhere behind the curtain is a politician or workforce commissioner that will profit for supporting such a program.
More government waste while the unemployed get no value, PERIOD.
Sickening. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
No say nothing Domingez is out of his league don't understand the voting rights the republicans are pushing or is it a trade off to keep quiet, No say nothing Domingez don't understand why the governor is stopping the unemployment federal benefits in Texas, No say nothing Domingez is a lapdog for the republicans.
