Montoya, I consider you one of the leading voices of our community, but when it comes to Musk and SpaceX, you always throw him out there for target practice for your bloggers. Maybe the local environment has been hampered some and Boca Chica Beach many not be available for short periods but these are things that can be fixed. The hundreds of jobs SpaceX has created locally cannot be fixed or replaced, and neither can we afford to lose the hi-tech companies that moved into our area because of SpaceX. For years, we have been a forgotten, broken and poverty stricken community because local officials did a poor job of long term planning, and development. We must make up for those lapses by embracing the moment. Montoya, I think you can help by being more encouraging for SpaceX.

The majority of employees at Space X are from out of town. One thing for sure, Brownsville will never see a live launch to space from Boca Chica as there's no infrastructure to conduct such high tech launches, those launches will continue to be conducted at Cape Canaveral Florida. The only thing being done at Boca Chica is rocket testing.
Juanito, I graduated and had to leave Brownsville because there were no job opportunities. I was born and raised in Tulipan and my mother cleaned houses on Palm Boulevard to put a plate of beans and rice on the table to feed me. Do you know what it feels like to be hungry and not have food in the house? Do you know what it fees like for the holidays to pass by and not have a Christmas tree or receive a present from anyone? A lot of kids in Brownsville Texas know that horrible hunger pain like I did. A lot of kids know what it’s like to wake up on Christmas and go about your day without any presents or celebration.
Now that progress is coming and you have the attention of one of the richest man you people are stupid enough to complain and be angry that he is creating jobs that pay more than cleaning houses. It makes me very sad to see the mentality of the valley and Brownsville to continue the suffering and hunger pains of your children.
Instead of creating programs to benefit the children, you people complain about the roads being closed as if that was going to create jobs for you. The backwards mentality of leadership is why so many of us had to leave to support our family.
It starts with blogs like yours Juan. You have the influence… use it wisely. I wish that my mother didn’t have to clean toilets and scrub floors. She was a smart woman who crossed the River and died a servant for her day to day pay. Brownsville Texas needs to get it together. Raise your kids with dignity.

Space Control to Maj. Tom😂😂In Brownsville and the majority of Cameron County, there's always been ratas and people that don't have the majority of the people's best interest in mind. We have a great warm water port,a beautiful gulf beach, but yet we still can't get our shit together. It's been that way since I was a child, probably way before then. Hopefully we can change the Norm, but I seriously doubt it. It sucks but that's how it's been, and continues to be. Until we all take a stand against the same old bullshit, it will never change. Our community deserves so much more.
