(Ed.'s Note: Elon Musk's published itinerary said the SpaceX billionaire was going to land at 4:30 a.m. at the Brownsville-South Padre Island International Airport and guess who was there to meet him as he walked from his private jet to his limo? Would you believe Da Mayor Trey Mendez and appointed Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation CEO Helen Ramirez? There was, of course, no "great" announcement made besides the one he had made that Brownsville was out of the running for rocket engine manufacturing plant because the process to set one up here was "challenging" and moved it to McGregor.
About the only announcement we can expect is that Trey will run again for mayor and couldn't pass a photo op to dazzle the peasants. Ramirez – who has proven she is out of her league as an economic developer – wanted to impress her local coffee klatch (“kaffeeklatsch,” which translates to coffee (kaffee) + gossip (klatsch) – rubbing elbows (literally) with Musk. Do either one of them realize that SpaceX is not in the Brownsville city limits or even in its ETJ?

SpaceX may be outside the city limits, but Brownsville's economy and job market stands to benefit more on the long run. You should leave out personalities Montoya and focus on the welfare of your community. If you had been invited to meet Musk at the airport, you would be singing a different song.
Mayor Mendez looks so desperate in that picture. Fix the city streets, drainage, pot holes all over town, no proper bus stops with benches, etc. Brownsville needs a lot of work and Elon is here only for his business and free city perks. Mendez was happy that Elon paid for his food. Now Mendez wants Elon to go to his restaurant. Sylvia Atkinson would of been a millionaire too.

The Space-x boom is already underway. Housing prices in Rancho Viejo have doubled and real estate brokers are crying for inventory. Musk is buying other property miles inland from Boca Chica and paying big bucks for it.
It is however a one guy boom and if that one guy changes his mind, a monumental bust will follow.
