All across South Texas, the bumper crop of mosquitoes is keeping municipal and county workers working after hours spraying or tossing larvicide "life savers" into pools of water to kill them in the larva stage and stop their reproduction.
The town of Rancho Viejo announced that they will be spraying neighborhoods in the coming days.
The crews will spray on Friday from 5 to 9 a.m. and again on Sunday at the same time. The spraying will take place weather permitting.
Like Rancho Viejo residents, residents across the Rio Grande Valley are asked to take precautions around their homes to stop the spread of mosquitoes.
*Keep doors and windows closed.
*Stay indoors at dusk and dawn.
*Wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing. When practical, wear long sleeves and pants.
*Apply insect repellent containing DEET sparingly to clothing and skin.
*Inspect your yards and drains. Keep grass mowed regularly and trim your shrubs.
*Throw out any stagnant water sources in your yard. Even the smallest of containers that can collect water can breed hundreds to thousands of mosquitoes. They don’t need much water to lay their eggs.
*Repair leaky outdoor faucets and pipes.
*Keep gutters cleaned and unclogged
*Slap the hell of of 'em!

Btw, not a problem in McAllen. Regular spraying, especially ahead of storm forecasts, seem to do the trick.
Yeah, put on a mask, observe 6-feet distancing from all mosquitoes and keep letting government rule your life.

I'm in Rancho Viejo and it's a total nightmare. I count 28 mosquitoes on my sliding glass door right now at 11:42 am. My dogs and I can't go outside without being swarmed. Almost Prisoner-like. Here comes the rain again.

Montoya,it will be a good idea for you to look into why city of Brownsville management staff park their cars on metered parking spaces instead of walking where they supposed to park in the city plaza parking areas. This is where they require all city hall employees to park their personal cars, it seems like they are too lazy two walk two blocks. They keep bragging about "Total Alignment" bullshit when they supposed to set the example. Sometimes, they park on city commissioners parking spaces. Especially that fat ass " Government affairs employee who dont do anything at all day exceptcollecta hefty paycheck.
