BREAKING NEWS: RAMIRO GONZALEZ, MAYOR'S PARTNER RESIGNS

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

Just a day after his partnership with Brownsville Mayor Trey Mendez in a real estate deal to sell the historical Coca Cola plant downtown was revealed, director of Government and Community Affairs Ramiro Gonzalez has suddenly resigned from his $82,992 job.

The resignation has been confirmed by some members of the city commission but no statement has been made by the city administration.

Both men are listed as managing members  in Urban 8 Properties LLC which was registered with the Texas Secretary of State last June. The firm brokered the deal for the building at a $382,000 price tag between owner Carmen Petalta and Joe Quiroga, according to a post by Jim Barton if the Brownsville Observer blog. At one time, Realtors listings had more than $450,000 as the asking price.

Quiroga is the president of Texas National Bank in Mercedes, but his address is listed in Edinburg.

Questions have arisen on the propriety of the mayor partnering with a city employee whose job and salary depends on his vote. And local Realtors are looking for the details of the sale which some claim were rigged against the woman.

Our sources said there was no reason given for the sudden resignation or whether Gonzalez was facing an option to resign or be fired.

Good Riddance. That Ramiro has been sucking on the Cities tit longer than Peter Goodman ever did. Difference is, Peter produced.

I always knew he was a rat! They should check all directors and assistant directors who have been there 15 years and up. Ojo on the two main departments in city plaza on second floor.

Man who lost feet to COVID regrets not getting vaccine
When asked about why he chose not to get the vaccine, his response was simple and to the point: “Stupidity.”

“Stupidity, basically because I didn’t believe in it,”

Hopefully, the city will not hire another "Government affairs " director as these duties (if any) can be delegated to one of the many assistant city managers thus saving taxpayers monies. We know that this position was just created to give someone a hefty pay increase.

check where the title to grantor's was filed, Cameron county district clerk's office. The same district clerks office that our so called Sheriff Eric Garza as former district clerk used to run. See how the shit just falls off Eric Garza. They have and continue to manipulated the corruption from a different direction.

interesting world we live in....and so much push for downtown, while the rest of the town crumbles.

Ben Neece wasn't such a bad guy after all - he could clean it up.

Where is Bernal overseeing that total alignment. They're a joke.
