Brownsville Herald 9-8-21
Samantha is survived by her husband Christopher Peña, her mother-in-law Minerva Peña, her father-in-law Lupe Peña, her father Jose Robert Ruiz Jr. and her mother MAry C. Ruiz, her sister Trinity M. Alfaro. her sister Robin Ponce and her brother Robert Ruiz III; her grandmother Irma V. Ruiz and her padrinos Rodolfo Cardenas (Norma).
Funeral home obituary this week
She just keeps digging the hole bigger and deeper.
The Brownsville Herald first reported on the censure and referral of a potential nepotism case to Cameron County District Attorney's Office involving Brownsville Independent School District board member Minerva Peña Thursday.
They first reported that Peña claimed she had not been censured by her fellow board members, only to be corrected by the BISD that the vote to refer the case to the DA's Office included the censure, in fact, that Peña herself had voluntarily censured herself.
Properly chastised, the daily corrected the online version of the story and changed the headline to say she had self-censured by agreeing not to enter BISD campuses and facilities.
But that was not the end of it. Peña, in a self-serving interview with the daily, claimed that her son had divorced the woman – Samantha Peña – before the time of her employment with the district and therefore her employment was not in violation of the district's nepotism policies. And neither, it would be assumed, was Peña.
The article also sanitized her "passing," failing to note that she had committed suicide four days with her husband's gun after she was forced to resign because of her relationship with Peña. Both had been given a choice between resigning their position – Peña as trustee and her daughter-in-law as a teacher with the BISD – or one of them staying on, but not both.
If the woman had been divorced, this choice would not have applied. Yet, Peña told the Herald they were divorced.
That was a surprise to the Cameron County District Clerk's Office, which responded to questions about the alleged divorce or whether the couple had even filed for divorce with an affidavit stating that no such records exist in the district clerk files.
In fact, there is no record of the alleged divorce in files stretching back to 1980 to September 9, 2021.
So who's right?
Under Texas law, a couple must live in Texas for the preceding six months and in Cameron County for the preceding 90-day period in order to file for a divorce. Since both lived in Cameron County, if any divorce exists, it had to be filed with the county's district clerk.
According to the response by the Cameron County District Clerk's Office, no such records exist.
Then witnesses started coming forward who recalled that Peña had said at the time the woman was hired that "they are getting a divorce..." And there's even some reports that she asked administrators to place her application ahead of the others.
It surprised some observers when she that she left the employment of teachers up to the superintendent.
Aren't the principals given that options under state and district policy?
And yet she claimed in the Herald article that she had nothing to do with the hiring?
Things are getting in the Peña nepotism case just keep getting curiouser and curiouser...

Who gives a fuck, get a life people! Montoya is painting a pinche novela here.
And this novela ends bad with a young lady ending her life.
Curious, no; Ridiculous, yes.
Pero, amigo, ese es Bronsvil! Para que pintar el burro blanco?
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH by-pass the trial and send her to sylvia's house or home whatever where's the DA?
Frontier launches its first Las Vegas flight from Harlingen
I think the city needs a bigger director at the airport.
Is that the white bear that is at one of the real estate companies here and the family is adored by all the politicians and have named a pond and a street using their name to honor them? What loyalty if it is.

Republicans Don’t Actually Want Roe v. Wade to End This Way
GOP politicians appear terrified of Texas’ abortion ban. The Supreme Court should take note.
(- When they go against women, Republicans lose at the polls.)
The Brownsville Herald needs to investigate this or they understood the information wrong or Minerva confused them.
Thank you Laura Perez-Reyes for doing your job, staying honest and in a way helping a married women from the mother-in-law. Las suegras.....con sus nueras.
COME-ON MAN...YOU KNOW THAT NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO PENA!!!! SHE HAS DIRT ON SO MANY POLITICANS INCLUDING THE DA THAT SEE'LL NEVER SEE THE DAY OF LIGHT OF A COURT ROOM???? NO ONE HAS THE BALLS TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT!!!!! ITS ALL TALK AND NO ACTIONS AND BULLSHIT WALKS....MARK THESE POST YOU'LL SEE!!!!
Gary Long, the kiss ass, is your problem, there. He wrote the article and doesn't have the balls to print facts. Peña is a disgrace. Her day will come.
The root of all evil BISD want more keep electing these bozo clowns YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS puro mamones
Peña or pena que pena vergueza no tiene
An inquest has been opened. The question is will the Linda Salazar do her job? An inquest is automatic. But the JP has a job to do to get to the truth. As her friend I want a full investigation and not just a coverup.

I have heard several people say the same thing you are saying.
I think they took advantage of a young teacher.
I hope you are wrong, but I will remember your words.
"Aren't the principals given that options understate and district policy?"
Juan, please state the state and district policy that you are referring to in your article. It would give more validity to whatever you are trying to prove in your post regarding the BISD School Board Trustee.
It is just one more piece of investigation to validate your brilliant report on things happening in BISD. Like Bobby would have said, give your readers the "facts". Without the state and district policy, your report is just worthless.
Minerva Pena is all about herself. The Bibles example of who not to be or follow. The Board Members are power hungry and need to go. La Prisci Rocca Tipton and Denise "Chela" Garza are up for reelection. They must go. Does anyone know how Maricela Franco ended in HR and straight to Administrator? Carmelita's best friend or commadre? Como le hizo? Y Jay Jay de Leon, de secre borracho a jefe de los custodians!!! Cómo le hizo Jay Jay? A quien se echó si el wuey es un naco con mucho bótox$$$
Y los payasos siguen siendo payasos Oh but its in the contract.
Pinche marrana!
Minerva, and self righteous politicians
Here's a thought... maybe you wouldn't have to mention you are Christians all the time, if you acted like one most of the time.

Investigate? shitty newspaper doesn't even have a toilet at the office they go next door and you want them to investigate ha.
Penny for your thoughts?
Doesn't it bother anyone that this young lady commits suicide after being terminated from the bisd because of her POS pedophile loving mother in law? Obviously, this young lady had other issues of some sorts and this was just another issue to push her over the edge? Of course, this is only speculation or assumption since we don't have more details? I would be willing to bet or no doubt that this pena had a lot to do with it. She is that type of POS and anyone who worked with her can confirm it! I hope that that this incident was properly investigated since BPD is in total array? But you dumb asses voted her into office!

Maricela Franco and Felipe Barrera (HR specialist also now Principal) along with others counselors, secretaries, data clerk sister to Mr. Barrera worked at Cromack when HR Carmelita was principal. That group were in her own words "her ears and eyes".
JJ was AA Rachel Ayala secretary. Ayala is a dear friend to HR Carmelita.
Strange that Chief Felix El Chapo Sauceda can't find anyone to name as his new Commander??
Well welcome to the circus...let's give you a brief tour of this circus action far..you can't make this shit up!!
So here we go..welcome to the show!
Act #1..
Brownsville Police Chief Felix Sauceda, He may carry the title of Chief but more than half of his own people don't respect the the guy...I dare call him a man when half his people won't even call him CHIEF..
but it's not his fault he had never really been a true supervisor at any level.
As a sergeant he wasn't on the streets for very long and was then moved to evidence room and the city jail.
He was then moved over to the Special Investigations Unit where he really messed things up, comprised himself and the Police Department, and probably would be sitting in jail somewhere if it wasn't for the kindness of the former Chief Orlando Rodriguez.
Sauceda was removed immediately than allowed to promote where he became a Lieutenant and spent his time as the commander's secretary, where most of his time was spent sending out emails and planning to get revenge on others who have gad a far superior career than him.
Now for the rest of the story: As Commander Dale's secretary he dreamed of sitting in the Commanders chair and was caught on several different occasions sitting in the big chair..
Then Commander Dale became entangled in a power struggle with Commissioner Jessica Tetreau over guess who? Of course, Diane Martinez.
The fight was over Diane's scheduling because she refused to work late and did not want to work weekends. The Sgt. Assigned to supervisor her was scared of her that he decided to inform the Lieutenant he reported to guess who it was Felix Sauceda. SAUCEDA ALSO STAINED HIS PANTIES AND ran to his BOSS Commander Dale.
But since Sauceda and Diane have history, and Sauceda knew that Commander Dale who has a pair and would do what was right for the department.
*Sauceda sees an opportunity and puts the two on a collision course*;
Sauceda tells Diane to get Jessica involved.
Commissioner Tetreau then calls Dale told him to change Diane's schedule immediately and threatened to end his career if she didn't get her wish.
Well here is where it all got crazy. Ex-Chief Orlando Rodriguez had already put in for retirement so he left the most senior commander in charge, who was James Paschal.
Then, Lt. Sauceda now capitalizing on his opportunity to advance and made friends with Tetreau promising that if he was made chief of police he would take care of the commissioners best friend Diane. So the story unfoldes; At the order of Tetreau, acting chief Paschall then demotes Commander David Dale and makes Sauceda Acting Commander – a position he holds very briefly – and a short period later, to everyone's surprise, he is named chief over some very qualified individuals. COME to find out Felix Sauceda takes the job cause he made an arrangement with the City Manager Bernal he would take a pay cut at a rock bottom price...SAUCEDA, FELIX J 310 - Police Administration $119,999.98.
CITY Manager Bernal now sees the desperation of Sauceda how he can not only control the Police Department but the extra money he cuts from the Police Department he can give himself a raise..
Great Going Chief Sauceda and city manager Noel Bernal. Y'all have now made yourself look like the total idiots you truly are!
#worstchiefever....
SEE Act#2..
It is a Mexican thang! People run for office to enrich themselves and their pals. They are liars, crooks and thoroughly corrupt people. Nobody else runs. The honest folks don't want to swim in the public septic tank with all of the elected turds.
