"Cobbler, cobbler, Mend my shoe, Get it done by half-past two,
Stitch it up, And stitch it down, Then I will give you Half a crown."
English Nursery Rhyme
Zapatero a sus zapatos!

It is a dying craft, and we know of no other cobblers in Brownsville save for Pito Garcia at his work table and lathes at Pancho Lopez's Valle Hermoso Shoe and Boot Repair Shop at 1118 E. 14th Street. In the photo above, he is enveloped in friction smoke as he trims the rubber heels of a pair of $150 ColeHaan City shoes and leaves them like new for only $20. Garcia and Lopez labor all day and offer great prices to their customers.
By far the most popular item brought to the shop are boots in all styles. Whether they are ropers, cowboy style or of some exotic skin, Garcia hammers away to breathe new life into patrons' favorite shoes. He seems to revel in the midst of his clutter. One customer said that he had replaced the heels and soles of a pair of his favorite black eel skin boots that he has had for years. "They fit just right," he said. "I guess I could get a new pair, but these are the most comfortable boots I own and I don't want to part with them. I've had them put new heels twice already. Pito took care of me in about half an hour. The service is great."
The outside of the Valle Hermoso Shoe and Boot repair advertises that they also repair orthopedic shoes for diabetes sufferers, boots, and leather handbags and belts. Garcia pointed to rows of women shoes that were brought in for repair of heel taps. "They tend to forget about their shoes and we hold them for a month before they go on sale to whoever wants to buy them," he said. "If not, there they are."
The fading price list above the sign warning that to leave shoes there is a small advance required and after a month, "no nos hacemos responsables."

Please patronize our local merchants. It's amazing to see these guys at their craft, something that we won't see for long in our city.

Zapateros took a big hit when Pachucos stopped coming around with their Florsheims, asking for two or three more soles on their shoes...

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (R) offered up a massive cash reward for evidence of voter fraud following Donald Trump’s loss almost a year ago, and this week paid out his first bounty ― to a progressive poll worker who caught a Republican trying to vote twice.
Eric Frank, who worked at a polling station in Chester County, Pennsylvania, during the 2020 election, told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Thursday night it was “extremely ironic” he received the $25,000 payout, given Patrick’s apparent intention to support Trump’s claim the election was stolen from him.
Esto es una apocalipsis!!!
Boots, shoes, belts, purses, etc., etc., have no life.
They are inanimate.
Soap, ice cream, WD-40 and other everyday items are about to get more expensive
"We’re in for at least another 12 months of inflationary pressures," says one consumer company CEO.
(beef, fruit & veggies already rising.)
Do they fix nikes?
What do you expect from a incompetent Chief of Police Felix Sauceda!
When you have Lieutenant and a patrol Officers assigned full time to the to the gym??? And same female Officer who was caught using a City vehicle to take her family to Austin...has female Officers working from home some Officers assigned to dispatch. Took all female Officers off Patrol and gave them a 3day all expenses paid trip to the island complements of the City of Brownsville..While leaving patrol short handed..
Chief Sauceda having several Officers injured at the shooting range and one officer was even shot in the arm..All paid injuries by the City of Brownsville while leaving patrol short-handed as they are placed on injury leave.
The City of Brownsville must enjoy giving away money as lawsuits mount against Chief Sauceda and the Brownsville Police Department.
Terrible mismanagement by Chief Felix Sauceda.
