From this tongue-in-cheek (and naughty) take on Halloween (Jalame el winnie) at Chris and Queren's Jukebox Bar on Adams with a ghost in a tombstone shouting the local slogan when a rola mamalona comes on the chillona (Fierro!) to the more ornate altar at Yerberia La Azteca at 911 E. Elizabeth Street, businesses downtown are caught in the annual ceremony of the dead.
La Katrina looks like she's singing, much to the despair
of the cherub on the corner while...
one of her seƱores sits at her side dressed to kill. More altares are visible in the downtown area as they celebrate the annual Halloween-Dia de los Muertos observation that makes the border so unique.

Jim "Manteca" Barton now says he's better writer than Juan Montoya.
The tub of lard wrote this: "While the McAllen troll continues to blogsquat in the comment section of local blogs, characterizing me as fat and uneducated; my grammar, syntax and vocabulary is not exceeded by anyone in the local blogosphere."
Oh, really?
My, my, how the 75-year-old no-college, grocery store bag boy, motel clerk and shrimp boat unloader has grown....in his own mind!
