IN THE CASE OF CHILD CARE, THE U.S. IS AN "OUTLIER"

By Claire Caine Miller
The New York Times

"Rich countries contribute an average of $14,000 per year for a toddler’s care, compared with $500 in the U.S. The Democrats’ spending bill tries to shrink the gap."

Typical 2-year-olds in Denmark attend child care during the day, where they are guaranteed a spot, and their parents pay no more than 25 percent of the cost. That guaranteed spot will remain until the children are in after-school care at age 10. If their parents choose to stay home or hire a nanny, the government helps pay for that, too.

Two-year-olds in the United States are less likely to attend formal child care. If they do, their parents pay full price – an average $1,100 a month – and compete to find a spot. If their parents stay home or find another arrangement, they are also on their own to finance it, as they will be until kindergarten.

In the developed world, the United States is an outlier in its low levels of financial support for young children’s care – something Democrats, with their safety net spending bill, are trying to change. The U.S. spends 0.2 percent of its G.D.P. on child care for children 2 and under – which amounts to about $200 a year for most families, in the form of a once-a-year tax credit for parents who pay for care.
The other wealthy countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development spend an average of 0.7 percent of G.D.P. on toddlers, mainly through heavily subsidized child care. Denmark, for example, spends $23,140 annually per child on care for children 2 and under.

White terror: Millions of Americans say they'd support violence to restore Trump to power

"Justice for J6" was a flop — but the Jan. 6 insurrection has fueled growing support for white extremist violence.

This is Cascos?

If you can not afford to take care of child care without govt assistant, what business do you have bearing children. And stop having one each year just so you can get more exceptions and more $350 checks for each child. Cook at home instead of eating out and save money for child care and eat frijoles con arros at home or papitas con carne. Kids don't even know what those are anymore.
We ate papas con huevo, huevo con papas, y papas a huevo. Daddy supported us with his weekly check and no handouts.

This country abandons its elderly and ignores the very young. They say we're youth-oriented, which means you're toast after 40 - like you, Montoya.

Word has it that your buddy McHale is having it bad with feelings of abandonment. Sent him a drink, ese.

Parents ignore their children. And, families abandon their parents. When a family invests their time and love in their young and their elderly, it shows what a great culture is all about. You can spend all of the money in the world, but money does not solve the problem of abandonment. It is not necessarily financial, but psychological. Yes, money helps but it doesn’t solve the problem.

This place is garbage.
Government needs to take care of my kids and other responsible taxpayers should get the bill.
Seems like straight up forced confiscation of wealth (stealing) and redistribution.
Have a plan for kids, sometimes sacrifice luxuries, get help from family or charities but stop taking people's money and pretending you deserve to be rewarded for bad decisions and no planning.

For Covid victims and those who donate their wife's body to science:

There are no laws that prohibit home burial, You must check local zoning laws for restrictions on home burials. It is also legally required to use a funeral director, even if you are burying on private land. Embalming is only required if a person died of a contagious disease.

There.

If you do not have the money to take care of your own children, then you need to stop having children.

I'm sure that your irresponsibility prevents you from having my best interests at heart, so no I have no interest in supporting someone else's children, that would be irresponsible on my part.

No it does not take a village.
