Starting this October 18, residents across the state have had the chance to cast their votes for or against eight state propositions dealing with everything from the eligibility of state judges, helping surviving spouses of fallen soldiers with property taxes, and to prohibit the state from infringing on the right of Texans to worship, among others.
October 18 signaled the start of early voting for the Nov. 2 constitutional amendments election. Early voting ends October 29.
The proposition that is on the ballot states that funding for the project will be financed through bonds issued by Cameron County to be paid by funds generated from the hotel-motel occupancy tax and rental car fees paid by visitors to the center.
In other words, it will cost county taxpayers nothing for the renovation, planning, acquisition, development, construction, equipment, and expansion of a multi-purpose arena and convention center and any related infrastructure for the project.

The South Texas Eco-Tourism Center at Laguna Vista was funded through a venue tax (Visitors tax) proposition as was Cameron County's Amphitheater and Events Center at South Padre Island.
A feasibility study was completed on the project that analyzed all the relevant factors and its impact on all of Cameron County and communities within a 50-mile radius of the project.
It is to be located near the intersection of Expressway 77-83 and Texas Highway 100.
Other communities across the state, notably San Antonio, has used this funding method to construct major arenas, including the AT&T Center, home of the San Antonio Spurs.
Although not as large, the Cameron County arena/convention center will have a capacity of between 8,000 to 10,000.
In San Antonio its arena was opened in 2002 as the SBC Center (later the AT & T Arena), was also funded by a hotel-occupancy and car-rental tax increase and an additional contribution of $28.5 million from the San Antonio Spurs.
Bexar County voters approved the plan in November 1999.
We have a chance to do the same thing for Cameron County to build the Multi-Purpose Arena and Convention Center and provide opportunities to our neighbors. Why not us? Why not here?
And all we have to do is darken the "For" oval on the back side of the ballot.

In San Antonio the SBC center was funded by additional $28.5 million from the San Antonio Spurs, That says it all. What famous or noticeable team compared to the Spurs are going to additionally fund this Proposition A project? Is this Proposition A project going to be used later to house the illegal immigrants who are the main visitors in Cameron County today? This is my opinion.
expectación del petardazo final.
Throughout his scandal-ridden career, Donald Trump has compiled an astonishing record of impunity, constantly staying one jump ahead of prosecutors, plaintiffs and creditors...[His] record of escapes would make Houdini envious. But Trump remains under the gun. He's still in search of escape routes.
A House committee is examining his attempts to overturn last year's presidential election, including his actions when a mob of his supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6. A prosecutor in Georgia is investigating whether he violated state law against soliciting election fraud when he demanded that officials "find 11,780 votes" — the number he needed to undo Joe Biden's victory in that state. And prosecutors in New York are looking into allegations that Trump, or at least the closely held family business he runs, committed tax and bank fraud.
[stay tuned.]

Are there commitments from Big Time acts - like Three Dog Night and the Dallas Cowboys - to thrill locals? My guess is that the backers have as yet not done any sort of marketing study. Brownsville is not cultured enough for this! We're flea market and free pachanga people, bro.
Ben Neece knew that when he campaigned by way of a pachanga-a-day!

Yes and the $3.7 Billion infrastructure bill that includes student loan forgiveness, free college, electric vehicle stations installations everywhere, free day care, etc., etc. will also cost zero.
People from outside the RGV will not come. Brownsville can't even draw for SpaceX!
This is a losing proposition. Covid is still around!
You cannot compare Brownsville Texas to San Antonio, the 7th largest city in the nation.
No, let the fed gov exempt the spouse of fallen soldiers from paying taxes. Why should we foot the money. Gov has a responsibility for there employees.
