One candidate who was flirting with running for the U.S. Congress in the seat left vacant by U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela (District 34) was state Rep. Alex Dominguez, D-Brownsville.
Now advisers say he is considering a run for the District 27 seat left vacant by Luico Jr. U.S. Rep. Vicente Gonzalez recently announced he was running for Vela's seat after redistricting significantly changed the GOP-Dem. balance in favor of the Republicans.
Redistricting made Texas SD-27 less safe for Democrats, changing it from a district that President Joe Biden won by 16 percentage points to one he would have carried by 6 points.

This is in support of the republican party where his true allegiance lies. When it really mattered he always came down of the republican's side with his vote.
