Jajajaj …..El Paya Gerry Mchale went all out on this vote. He was telling all who would listen that this would be a measuring stick of the power of his blog. What a pendejo! If Mchale is peddling it, it has no substance or validity. Fuera con este fracasado!
The county commissioners court did a puss poor job of pushing this through. The collective commission and its administrator are worthless. They never took a hard stance and informed the public of true costs of the venue. The County Judge and the rest of the spineless cowards hid behind the curtains in fear of political retribution from those who opposed the issue. Cobardes! Buenos para nada!
Do you know why it failed? Because NO ONE BELEIVES OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS ANYMORE. It is that simple. Their message is always with an angle and people don't trust the current Count Judge and City Mayor of Brownsville, TX. Carlos Cascos didn't help neither. If it is not Carlos idea it is not a good idea in his mind. Carlos Cascos will rather have us having concerts under a mesquite tree next to cow manuer.
WHATS UP JUAN, "ARE YOU WITH WHITEWASHING THE HISTORY OF TEXAS"? NO MORE UPDATES ON INJUSTICES COMMITTED BY OUR SO CALLED WHITE LEADERS? WAS A SETTLEMENT ENOUGHT TO JUSTIFY ALL THE WRONGDOING BY CORRUPT LEADERS? TEACHING OUR HEIRS TO ACCEPT LIES AND TO ACCEPT THE CORRUPTION ALL FOR A PRICE IS A COWARDLY WAY OUT. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN YOU MR. MONTOYA
Cascos told the truth. Many want shiny shiny things, although they are unaffordable. Besides, what's wrong with concerts under mesquite trees? Won't cost us $100 million.
GREAT! Cameron County needed the arena like they needed a hole in the head! The AUDACITY of the County to cram this misadventure down the throats of the citizenry…and trying to get them to believe it would be no cost to taxpayers! Someone was setting themselves up for a windfall…OOPS! FAILURE to LAUNCH. Not to worry, the Elected officials will make another run at it…that’s the way they roll. NO integrity whatsoever! Pathetic.
HINT: There was NEVER a groundswell of citizens petitioning the County for a new arena in the county…this was pipe dreams of the burrocrats that want to see their names on a building, at the very least!
I voted NO. Ogden Arena in Edinburg is a PRIVATE entity, the arena in Hidalgo is owned by a national insurance company. I have a suggestion to our local officials: If you want a county arena buy back the Jacob Brown, fix the inside, modernize the building and you will probably spend half of what you would spend in the new arena. We don't go to concerts in poop or outside areas not because Brownsville doesn't have an arena, San Benito, Harlingen you want an arena in your town, go ahead, make sure you not only build it, but you BRING DOWN good artists, get good promoters, prices are low enough for the ordinary family to afford them. Make sure you will not end with a "white elephant" in the building and that your local officials you trust with your tax and property monies. In the late 70's / early 80's, the Jacob Brown civic center housed artists such as VICENTE FERNANDEZ, JUAN GABRIEL, LOS BUKIS, RIGO TOVAR and many others; KGBT radio used to bring Miss KGBT event to the Jacob Brown and would bring artists. In 2014 I saw Ramon Ayala and Intocable and Lila Downs at the TSC ARTS center. Alejandra Guzman came to the Padre Island auditorium/theater before the remodeling of the pavillion. We (our town) is not less than McAllen, Edinburg or the other towns in Cameron County, we don't need to put more money into local politicians and construction companies pockets, we need promoters to bring artists and events to the Arts Center, the Jacob Brown auditorium, the Brownsville events center. Please don't say that promoters look for places like the arenas in McAllen or Edinburg to bring their artists; promoters look for places where they can make money weather it is an arena or an auditorium.
The timing for the vote could not have been worse. Voters are disappointed with political rats only working for personal financial gain. This massive project is ripe for corruption with mordidas and unfortunately Brownsville stays 20 years behind the times.
I heard some time back that vicente fernandez want to hold a concert at sams stadium but the RATAS AT BISD WANT 20K KICKBACK and he said no guey gueyes. Imagine an arena here!!!!
I voted NO we don't want another avenue for las ratas de brownsville texas to continue stealing from the poor taxpayers. ELECTED OFFICIALS PAY YOUR TAXAS NOW AND DO NOT ESTABLISH NO MORE BOARDS SO YOU CAN CONTINUE TO STEAL...

Voters do not trust cameron county commissioners court, bottom line.
Finally, the people that love Brownsville put a fight against corruption.
People are dying, children are in danger, old people are starving....
who was the person that said "let them eat cake"...the same story.
Help the homeless, help the veterans, help the poor.
I voted NO on arena. It was not for the poor.
simple as that.
No worries, San Benito arena will benefit all of Brownsville and the rest of the valley.

That's why we can never have good things.
Republican Glenn Youngkin won election as governor of Virginia without Trump's help! Didn't have to bend over for the racist Cheeto.
that's big.

El Paya McHale promised to leave Brownsville aside like Blimp and NO! he stuck his ugly feet in his mouth on the arena.
Paya Jerry is irrelevant. Vato sonso.
10:31am
I was thinking the same. I don't want to believe. I'm out!
El Paya McHale praising the hell out of McAllen!
ja ja ja.
Pos si, Ama. McAllen tiene todo lo que no tenemos.
Carlos Cascos burned himself with that vote. He's not for progress.
Vote NO! on Cascos.

I voted against it because it would have hurt Harlingen's economy.

Carlos Cascos knows best. Smart man, never met him. He told the truth.
7:27 pm.
Attaboy.
Harlingen has more and better restaurants. Better airport. Brownsville has nothing.
That's it DON'T LET THE RATAS CONTROL BROWNSVILLE ANYMORE STOP THE STEALING ANOTHER VENTURE TO ROB THE POOR PEOPLE OF THIS TOWN... GREAT VOTE
