PETITION FOR RELEASE OF BROTHERS PAST 325,000

myRGVnews

A Change.org petition calling for the release of three teens Pharr police arrested in the death of a man who was accused of sexually abusing his 9-year-old daughter is quickly picking up steam online with supporters across the United States donating for their defense and calling for their release.

Brothers Alejandro, 18, and Christian Treviño, 17, and their friend Juan Eduardo Melendez, 18, are facing charges after being accused of beating 42-year-old Gabriel Quintanilla in three separate incidents last week.

Quintanilla was found dead near McColl and Whalen roads in McAllen on Thursday, and Christian and Melendez face capital murder charges. Alejandro, like his brother and friend, also faces aggravated assault and engaging in criminal activity charges. All three remain jailed on bonds ranging from $1 million to over $1.5 million.

The case has since gained widespread attention across the nation with many calling for the release of the three teenage suspects.

The petition to Gov. Greg Abbott was created by Carlos Eduardo Espina of College Station on Tuesday and as of 4 p.m. has garnered over 71,000 signatures en route to meeting its 75,000 goal.

(As of 9 a.m. today, 135,633 had signed. See graphic at right.)
“We ask (the state) of Texas to release these teenagers, who could possibly spend the rest of their life in prison for protecting their sister,” the petition reads.

An affidavit obtained by the Monitor revealed that Quintanilla had engaged in a physical confrontation with the Treviño brothers after their 9-year-old half-sister, Quintanilla’s daughter, accused him of molesting her.

They can get millions of signatures and they will still get charged. Agreed the dead guy is a slime ball, but these guys beat him, went to his place and beat him again, followed him and beat him and then dumped him. Their conduct fits any and all definitions of premeditated murder. They are going away.

These are extenuating circumstances, and laudable ones at that.

Free these kids.

They did it for family. Who knows what their mother was going through? Quintanilla was the proverbial Bad Hombre, a bad Mexican seed.

(Muerete, cabron! Muerete, desgraciado.)

Who gets to decide when an offense warrants summary judgement by a posse? Apparently sexual assault on a child is one. I'm guessing that murder would qualify. How about robbery or theft of some kind? Maybe for these lesser offenses you just break their legs or cut off a hand. This will save the county a lot of money not having to mess around with juries or trails. Might even be able to get rid of judges and we will need fewer cops, too.

Disgusting legal system. Ruining three thoughtful young boys. What judge is handling this, Montoya?

FUCK PHARR PD. DUMBASS.

THIS IS WHY PHARR PD WAS GLAD THEY ARRESTED THE STEPSON'S.

Gabriel Quintanilla was the deputy officer from Pharr who was beaten to death by his two stepsons and one of their family friends.

They don't deserve to be the rest of their life in jail, but the DO DESERVE to be put away for the way they handled the situation. If they did it for their sister, go and turn yourselves in, accompanied by your attorney, and denounce what the man had done. You don't go beat up someone 3 times, then dump him like nothing happened. That says A LOT about their true feelings over the matter. What the man did to the girl is a CRIME, what they did to the man is a CRIME.

Retaliation for a crime, especially when a child or family member are the victim(s) can bring lawful responsible individual to the breaking point. In this case two brothers and their friend executed their own law of justification, justified or not a crime was committed and the victim is dead. Do I believe this man committed the crime to which he was accused of? On the basis of his criminal past, YES I DO. Could I be capable of such retaliation for a crime against my child or family member? YES, without question I WOULD and WILL to defend and protect. But, the question within would "retaliation" in itself be lawful? In the eyes of the LAW, I can defend and protect life and property while a crime is being committed and a danger remains present. The deceased destroyed every member of this family, mother, daughter, and sons, our prayers go out to them and to all victims of crimes.
