Special to El Rrun-Rrun
It has now become apparent that McAllen attorney Morgan LaMantia, who is running for the Texas Senate District 27 seat to be left vacant by Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. – and heiress to the L & F Distributing company fortune – has chosen to run as a tag team with, of all people, Texas House District 37 candidate Ruben Cortez.
Cortez's claim to fame as a member of the Texas State Board of Education has been clouded by the disclosure that he and his wife owe some $19,250 in property taxes delinquent since 2016. So how does a millionaire hook up with a tax deadbeat?
And he's not the only one who has been lured by the siren song of cold, hard cash.
The plot thickens.
Although it is said that there is no love lost between the Lucios and Cortez, Lucio III has allowed the LaMantia campaign campaign to use his office on Madison Street as her headquarters.
Her campaign finance report shows that Ruben O'Bell – currently chief of staff for Lucio Jr. – and formerly Lucio III's chief of staff, too, received a $5,000 payment to work on her campaign.
O'Bell already receives $126,000 in salary from the State of Texas to work for Sen. Lucio. So how does O'Bell, who works for the Lucios and is now getting LaMantia cash, justify helping a candidate who is supposed to be political enemies of Cortez?

Money talks, and when it talks, O'Bell doesn't walk, but runs headlong toward the LaMantia's dollars' sirens' song.

Covid Vibe -
“The end of the pandemic will not be televised,” the British Medical Journal declared in a December 2021 paper that found that “respiratory pandemics of the past century show that endings are not clear cut, and that pandemic closure is better understood as occurring with the resumption of social life, not the achievement of specific epidemiological targets.”
The 1918 flu perhaps aside, there was no obvious moment in the mortality curve of any recent pandemic where the conclusion suddenly announced itself, the authors found, suggesting that, for this pandemic, reaching “the end” may be less a matter of when the data turns incontrovertibly positive than when finally, if not necessarily rationally, the vibes go sunny-side up.
That could be quite soon.
This Super Bowl's gonna be the shits. Bengals against Rams? Spare me the boredom.

I've talked with this Cortez and he is one silver tongue devil! He definitely reminds me of his "naca" mother, linda. Just a politician looking for prestige and a paycheck.

So is Ruben o Bell supporting Cortez for state representative. What happened to his public endorsement of Luis Villarreal. Did baby Luis not give him any money so he went to help Cortez? Our vote can’t go to either Luis Villarreal or Ruben Cortez they clearly won’t separate from he likes of O’Bell and his cronies.

Voten for Luis! He is a shining star. Not the most eloquent public speaker and he speaks fast when nervous, but at least he willing to run for office. It takes guts. Hope he highlights his legislative experience!

Can someone please tell Cortez to find his own people to ask to put up his signs and not just place them everywhere LaMantia has hers? how embarrassing that people have to call him or his people to go pick up his damn signs in which they didn't even give him permission? Get your own people dude!
