"I hear in the State Rep District 27 (SIC) 37 contest that newcomer Luis Villarreal is drawing large crowds. Everybody knows that Ruben "Caveman" Cortez is a piece of shit and City Commissioner Frank Puente isn't popular, so I wouldn't be surprised if Villarreal won without a runoff." The McHale Report
(Ed.'s Note: Do politicians have an unerring sense of smell that they can sniff out another candidate who is drawing large crowds? There has been a longtime tradition in South Texas for candidates to latch on (some call it leech), on to the campaign events of a certain candidate. In this case, the handlers of the Luis Villarreal campaign report privately that some candidates have approached them at his rallies to ask permission to hand out their campaign literature. Some don't even do that."It's called 'de corva'," said a campaign staffer. The operatives of a woman candidate are especially bad (Ruben O'Bell and Mario Saenz?) "We don't want to be mean, but frankly, some of the people attending Luis' rallies don't like it."
Villarreal is running against Ruben Cortez, a former Brownsville Independent School District board member and Frank Puente, a Harlingen city commissioner.
"Mind if I pass out my cards and line up for a free chicken plate,?" the campaign worker said some asked. "No tienen verguenza los corveros.")

It's unprofessional and rude. They show no class when crashing another candidates' events just to pass out their own push cards.
I've always found it distasteful. Tacky. It's a great way to lose my vote.
Republican Gov. Abbott's border plan blows up in his face:
Several Texas National Guardsmen, stationed as part of Gov. Greg Abbott's plan to combat illegal immigration through the southern border, now are pushing to unionize amid reports of pay delays, poor living conditions, self-harm.
Military.com reports that at least six troops are currently in talks with the Texas State Employees Union due to the increasingly abject conditions of the mission.
"We're getting treated like sh*t," the soldier leading the organizing effort told Military.com. "This is all politically driven. I voted for Abbott. I agree with a lot of his politics, but not when it comes at the expense of the involuntary mobilization for upwards for 12 months. That isn't what we signed up for. We signed on the dotted line, but not for this."
"Fundamentally, deep down in my heart, I know that … there's really no point to this Border security thing," echoed another soldier told Texas Public Radio. "It's a huge expense. It's a huge waste of time. It's a huge waste of effort."
Its full of bed bugs bola de mamones. What the chichinques really want is an easy high paying job for themselves and all their family and friends.
