WTF? MR. AMIGO ASSOCIATION'S TASTE OF LA FRONTERA MOVEABLE FEAST PUSHED BACK AGAIN TO MARCH 7

FIRST JAN. 17 AT THE EVENTS CENTER,
THEN FEBRUARY 22 AT FT. BROWN AUDITORIUM...
NOW IT'S MARCH 7, A WEEK AFTER THE CHARRO DAYS FIESTAS(?)

Special to El Rrun-Rrun

Citing widespread vaccination rates in Cameron County, a growing public awareness of taking measures to contain its spread and heightened sense of personal responsibility in public gatherings, Texas Southmost College has agreed to allow the Mr. Amigo Association to use the Ft. Brown Auditorium to host its Taste of La Frontera.

The annual fundraiser was originally scheduled to be held Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Brownsville Event Center. Then we learned that it had been changed to February 22. The event, which features regional cuisine from restaurants on the border, music, beverages, and entertainment was moved to the Jacob Brown Auditorium.

Now we learn that the event will be moved again to Monday, March 7, more than a week after the Charro Days fiesta ends.

The event – the MAA's main fundraiser – has been usually held at the Brownsville Events Center, a venue that the city did not make available this year citing covid worries. But some MAA members say that the county's vaccination rates, among the highest in the state, combined with other safeguards, will allow the annual event to go forward and start getting the community back to its "normal."

A TSC administrator said that President Dr. Roberto Rodriguez had made the administrative call in the "interest of our support of local traditions and fostering cooperation with the MAA's mission to  promote relations between the United States and Mexico."

Now, shazam!, now it has been moved to Monday, March 7 at the Jacob Brown Auditorium from 6 to 9 p.m.

The association stated that it will honor previous ticket buyers who were to attend the Events Center in January 17 and the February 22 dates.

"We're encouraged by the the percentage of local residents who have gotten their two vaccines and booster to place the partially vaccinated in Cameron County at 99.99 percent and fully vaccinated at 82.90 as of  Tuesday," said a MAA supporter who asked for anonymity because she wasn't authorized to speak on behalf of the association.

Across the nation, covid cases are down by 66 percent, according to the Center for Disease Control.

"That shows that local residents have been very responsible in trying to stop the spread of the virus," she added. "It's this kind of personal responsibility that encouraged the board to go forward and get us back to normal. We encourage local residents to take the usual precautions like wearing face masks and practice social distance as much as  possible."

Pre-sale tickets are on sale for $35 here or with any Mr. Amigo board member.
The day of event tickets will be on sale for $40.

Their concern is money and the pachangas they make for themselves, and they want everything free. Bola de winos mamones stop all these fake events and the city and every tax supported organization STOP FEED THESE WINOS.

Are the numbers even correct Juan? They seem suspicious. Hidalgo county reported a backlog and Cameron hasn’t?
