The Great city of San Benito already has an Epicenter coming. Construction should start any day now. It is going to be to the scale the valley has not seen. Way to go San Benito and special thanks to the city commission and our city manager.

Sounds like another boondoggle.

So Little Eddie wants his own convention center like Chris "Boss Hogg" Boswell got his? The one in Harlingen gets more use by the Hilton Hotel, then it does from rentals. Just like the convention center and Bass Pro, Boswell's circle lined their pockets with taxpayer money. I'm willing to bet that Little Eddie and his circle will line their pockets with taxpayer green? I say Vote NO to Little Eddie' convention center!

Increase tourism???? Not here no way. Who is going to a city full of problems. WHO? With all the problems here and all the corruption you's be a fool to come and visit here.
The main and most important department for tourism and visits is the AIRPORT AND WHAT IS HAPPENING THERE? NOTHING NOTHING AND NOTHING. Only ONE duster plane lands in the brownsville airport. FIRE THE DIRECTOR oooooh you can't cause he a gringo....

VOTE NO FOR THE ARENA NOT UNTIL EVERYTHING IN BROWNSVILLE IS FIXED NO NO AND NO.

Anonymous said...

Vote No. No to spending 100 million dollars. Cameron County has no leadership. VOTE THEM OUT!

Anonymous said...

Why is Eddie Trevino pushing this again? Who owns this property that stands to make Big Bucks? Are they LLC's who jumped in front of the line to get free grant money?
Muertos De Hambre !

"Are you feelin' yoself?"

"Yes, I'm feelin' muhself."

Anonymous said...

What study says there will be increased visitors and tourism to Cameron County?

That's bullshit.

Many, many other better cites have arenas. But they are successful cities.

Vote NO.

When you keep on insisting on a wasteful cause, there are hidden agendas behind your reasons.
I have a question to the "intelligent" mayor and comissioners of our city/county.
Instead of a wasted space for the Mercado Juarez, WHY didn't anybody think of La Casa del Nylon to become a place like "EL DISCO" in Progreso? People at SPI visitors, Winter Texans, even mexicans from the capitol would visit a place that has authentic mexican pottery, dishes, furniture and food. The old downtown HEB would also be an excellent place for such a business, but NOBODY thinks that all that $$$$ can stay on THIS SIDE OF THE BORDER now that winter texans stay on this side of the border and go to EL DISCO in Progreso Texas because they dont cross to Mexico. Brownsville goes for a stupid arena instead of remodeling the civic center. build an arena? The answer is still NO.
We don't need a new arena for tourism, we need better infrastructure, better minds that stop thinking for their benefit and start thinking about the citizens of Brownsville, being American, Mexican, Mexican-American, we PAY TAXES. They say it will not be paid with our taxes, in that case fix what we have, modernize it.
I saw Olivia Newton John, REO Speedwagon and ZZ Top at the Jacob Brown, I saw Vicente Fernandez, Juan Gabriel, Chayito Valdez, Yolanda del Rio, Los Bukis, Rigo Tovar y su Costa Azul at the Jacob Brown in the 70's and 80's, graduated from TSC in the early 80's and UTB in the early 90's all ceremonies held at the Jacob Brown. The place needs remodeling but it has a unique structure. STOP WASTING MONEY on "white elephant personal projects". That is why other cities are moving ahead and we are behind.

ESTIMATE $100 MILLION

AS FOR THE THE COST, CAMERON COUNTY JUDGE EDDIE TREVIÑO Jr. WAS ABLE TO GIVE AN ESTIMATE.“THE PRICE TAG IS APPROXIMATELY
$100 MILLION,
THE VENUE TAX
WE ANTICIPATE
BEING ABLE TO PAY A THIRD OF THAT,” Treviño.

Vote no! It will be closed for lunch.
San Benito is already building one.
You cannot even provide good drinking water, nor able to fix the streets, charge to much for water and electricity, cannot operate regular business hours, closed for lunch, and special parking your car, only for you.

Idiota must be the owner of the land, or an elected official waiting for a cut

Anonymous said...

What a bunch of crap. We already voted it down and commissioners put it for vote again right away after they hire a advertising firm with tax payer dollars to shove it down your throat. Politicians will line their pockets with millions.

Anonymous said...

Vote No.
We already have a flea market in Rancho Olmito, Texas.

Ad showing "Friends of Cameron County" Treasurer, David Sanchez, is this LLC property owned by your father and family?

Build it at SpaceX they're moving out.

This arena is being developed in the Madeira Development which has already ripped off the city by getting a TIRZ designation. Read more about TIRZ at the following address...
https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/TX/htm/TX.311.htm

City of San Benito was able to get private investors to build their arena. And poor little Brownsville is doing it on the backs of its citizens. "Not going to cost us a penny"...right. Currently all the hotel/motel tax is being allocated to other needs for example non-for-profits and downtown renewal. Once the arena is built, how are they going to replace that funding. Our leaders do not realize that Hidalgo County has double the population of Cameron County...more people and more money. There is no way this county can afford this venue and it will not pay for itself. I put my money on the privately funded venture in San Benito rather than one run by our local government. Our officials have no idea what it takes to operate an arena in the black. Has anyone seen the feasibility study?
This is a "build it and they will come" pipe dream of our local officials.
We have got to get out and vote NO.

Anonymous said...

Take notice little Eddie and commissioners. Overwhelming no again. Stop spending our tax dollars on your advertising campaign. Stop trying to spend 100 million to inflate your egos more. Look at the 2 failure arenas in the upper valley. Cameron county is the poorest county in the USA and all you want is a luxury box with your name on it. Shame shame shame on you and Dennis Sanchez for pushing this. We already said no once. Now our voices will be heard when we vote everyone of you out. Gus, Eddie, Sophie , you just want to steal from us. No to 100 million. No to your theft.

Anonymous said...

Your time for what? To get into our pockets when tourism is slow and can't foot the bill?

Anonymous said...

Brownsville is ranked 13th in the state of Texas with the dirtiest water to all residents of Brownsville.

Anonymous said...

Has anybody have an idea what the name will be? One guess and one hint: the name of an elected official will be on the outside inside and all the toilets GUEES WHO'S NAME????

Anonymous said...

We already said NO to this "arena"

Anonymous said...

Browntown has more recrational areas and buildings than mcallen, yet there are more fat people here, WHY?? There are a million dance halls here yet nobody famous comes here to play, Why?? There are more resacas and ditches here than that state called 1000 lakes, WHY? hILLBILLY oLMITO calls their resacas LAKES, WHY? The city has sold the frendship garden, the fort brown, lincoln park, and other historical buildings so why build an arena, to sell it LATER, why? They build a center where only 50 people can fit, in a city of 450k people and an estimated 1 million uncounted.
Is this arena gonna be bigger say like it will fit 100 people??? WHY?
A TENT WOULD BE A WHOLE LOT CHEAPER AND PORTABLE.,,

Anonymous said...

ITS OUR TIME for what? Kick everyone of you pendejos OUT! MONEY HUNGRY ELECTED OFFICIAL nothing else puros mamones

Anonymous said...

That stupid flyer sounds like somebody from san jose wrote it. Full of lies. Makes the elected officials look ESTUPIDOS nothing new here...

Anonymous said...

This makes perfect sense. A plaque that commissioners can place their name on, a building that will empty a lot more than being used, competition to the dream in San Benito, and competition to money-losing venue in Harlingen. Perfect sense.
