The death of inmate Lidia Grover, of Harlingen, who was booked April 27 for criminal trespassing and had a $500 bond will be investigated by the Texas Rangers
She was found unresponsive in her cell at the Rucker-Carrizales Detention Center early today and transferred to Valley Regional Center where JP 2-1 Linda Salazar pronounced her dead and ordered an autopsy.
What makes this inmate death even seem even more unnecessary is that it happened when Sheriff Eric Garza had sent four of his jail administrators and captains out of town for a week for training even though the jails are short on staff and did not pass a state inspection for that very reason. The chief jailer and major were attending the conference in San Marcos and the jail commander and major were also out of town.
This "rookie mistake" might have led to lax supervision of inmates at the jails, some department staff assert.
“They have made requests to the jail — they’re trying to get information from the jail to figure out exactly what happened, but they are clueless at this point,” said Eddie Lucio, a Brownsville attorney representing the Grover family. “The jail has not provided them with any information regarding the circumstances surrounding their mom’s death.”

500 dollar bond? I thought you had to pay 10 percent of the bond to get out of jail? That is hard to believe because these low income people get plenty of money and free benefits from Joe Blow Biden. But yet get medical staff $6 raise. And all they do is sit on thier ass and make decisions on where the inmates go for medical reasons as in hospitals when even hospitals are sick of thier shit. The Sheriff is an idiot for having his “close” friends be part of his administration. Hey Eric, how do you think this information gets leaked? Do you actually think there is loyalty amongst your little group of wannabes? Silver tells everything to his “friends” who in turn leak everything out because his own friends don’t even like him. Imagine that, the clerks getting a raise at the cost of 2 Cpt positions! I guess fucking the Sheriff coming back from an SPI conference in the black suv pays off right Kleimer Carretero? And the other fat one Nerida Arredonda is the Sheriff’s DD so go figure. Too bad Del Bosque is gonna find reasons to justify the clerks getting raises meanwhile the Deputies AGAIN get fucked over. Hay Eric, it’s almost as if you want to fail and want the department as a whole to hate you… even more than we already do. And we get it, you don’t care, but when you’ll need our votes it’ll be too late.
No control of sick inmates. LUCIO AND REYNAS REIGN made the County pay millions on so many lawsuits for under qualified officers. Illnesses are uncontrollable facts of life. Let the Rangers do the job.

That jail is a joke. It was bad under Lucio but now it's even worse. Not even under Cantu was it this bad
