Texas Southmost College had a record number of graduates walking the stage at the Jacob Brown Auditorium during three commencement ceremonies held on Saturday, May 14.
A record number of dual enrollment students from Brownsville Independent School District, Jubilee-Brownsville, and Los Fresnos CISD earned an associate degree in General Studies before a high school diploma and joined the Scorpion Alumni family and have become Scorpion Strong.

A degree is a degree. In the end it's the experience/expertise that will matter. Not everyone is meant or end up at Yale, Boston or Harvard in order to be successful. Not everyone is meant to go to college and that don't make them any less.

How many of these graduates can actually read and write? How many can do basic math? How many end up being teachers and teaching our children? How many will continue their education and get a Masters and/or PHD and end up being administrators? How many will get their Masters and/or PHD online?
If your children are smart send them away to college. Keeping them here at UTRGV will only dumb them down.

What's a degree actually worth? Not everyone is meant to go to Yale, Boston or Harvard. Not everyone will go to college and that too does not make a person any less. Most importantly here is that they're getting an education. How sad of an individual putting down education at any institution. To this person it may not mean anything for those achieving may/is mean a new beginning.

What a **$$×cat you're most definitely in a free country to do as you please and choose. TSC is just the beginning and they're just talking about Associates. They're not talking about 4 year degrees here. Read the article. Many have continued on after Texas Soithmost College to other universities and do get hired at major corporations. Stop Think Before You Speak - get educated. Oh it's Mexico brother!
