The chow was excellent as was the free bar on the second-story balcony at the Center. Also present at the bash (top picture) was Democratic Party District 27 senate primary runoff winner Morgan LaMantia, who promised to work with the TSC board on legislative initiatives to fund the college's mission of providing affordable education to the community.
TSC board member - and past board president - Ruben Herrera joined LaMantia, Adela and yours truly right before the mariachis arrived to serenade Madam Chair. Below, Adela, resplendent in her birthday dress, visits our table. That's my youngest Marisol on her left. We didn't ask - and wouldn't tell anyway - what number birthday it is.
We have a soft spot for Adela who - despite enormous pressure from the Brownsville powers-that-be - voted against giving away this community asset to the oil-and-gas rich UT System joined by Kiko Rendon, Trey Mendez and Rene Torres. For that alone they, and birthday girl Adela, have our undying respect and gratitude. Happy birthday, Adela. You go, girl!)
