(Ed.'s Note: We agree with downtown critics that it has been overrun by crackheads, professional homeless who use the alleys and doorways of vacant, shuttered up businesses as their personal living rooms and bathrooms to take care of their business, and the smell of urine pervades our sidewalks. And how can you miss the working girls who hang out on Washington in the Cameron Hotel environs plying their wares? These are problems that local authorities and law enforcement have to address if the millions invested there are to bear fruit.
But there is also beauty there. One of our readers sent us this photo of flowers growing inside the gates of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral on 12th and Jefferson streets. Hopefully, the recent rains – and storms forecast for this weekend – will result in a riot of color all across the city and wash some of the downtown grime away.)

Ok. Sometimes we have to look at another viewpoint. I am not for abortion for myself. However, the other option is to pay for 18 or more years of food stamps, medical/dental bills, a monthly check and other incidentals. Which one is cheaper?
